Students will prepare an APA annotated bibliography and research paper for the mid-term exam grade (see recommended research databases below). The paper is due per the Course Outline above. The points are earned by a minimum five-page (body), five-source, APA-cited write-up (abstract is required and not counted in page requirement) according to the written work rubric. The contents focus on the principles and laws of freedom of speech and press for the United States of America. The paper should show the student understands the different freedom of expression systems around the world, including the right to dissent, to monitor and criticize power, and to assemble and petition for redress of grievances. This is not an opinion paper. Stay focused on the legal perspective.
