Do you see any cultural links toward your own silence or someone else’s silence in conversations?

This week covers a variety of practical examples of how our identity impacts our communication, some questions we might consider include: Does our views always match others’ view of us? Do we understand how others’ identities influence their views? We have so many identities; do we change them depending on the context?

This weeks reading also explored how learning styles, language, ethnic background, and bias may all have a deep impact on our experiences in different settings, such as school, work, and health care.

With these concepts in mind, select 1 scenarios below and respond to each of the associatedj questions in a minimum of 190 words. Provide examples and support from the readings (appropriately cited) for your conclusion. Remember to focus on different cultures, not within your own culture.
Scenario 3: Reflect on your experience with silence in a diverse work setting, an intercultural friendship, or your extended family from another culture (in laws, ect). What is your perception or view when silence occurs in one of these settings when it is different than your culture’s? Do you feel uncomfortable when someone from another culture is quiet for an extended period? Do you see any cultural links toward your own silence or someone else’s silence in conversations? Share your experience and provide rationale and examples to support your responses.
