drafting: developing a working thesis

Purpose:

The purpose of this discussion is to develop a working thesis. The thesis is the main claim of your paper. It is very natural to consider many different claims when brainstorming on a topic. Drafting several versions of possible theses will help you apply the principles of strong thesis writing, a skill you will use in all of your college coursework.

Task:

Open a discussion thread and write three different versions of your main claim, your “working thesis”.
Below these three theses, briefly reflect on which working thesis you think is the most effective.
Pick which of your classmate’s theses you think is the most effective.
Criteria for Success

Successful discussions will apply the principles of effective thesis creation to drafting your working theses.
