Emory: What academic areas are you interested in exploring in college?*
My main focus is the Arts: specifically, acting for film and stage, playwriting, visual arts, animation, (game) design, filmmaking, and many others. The arts is my main passion as I want to create and/or be in works that will bring representation to communities all over the world. So naturally, (entertainment) business is a field I’m interested in as at the end of the day everything is based on business decisions and trying to push the business field to benefit communities. Adding on, I’m also interested in the medical field with pathology peaking my interest most. With how the world is now, doctors are needed more than ever. Helping people in some way is my main goal in life and what’s better than to possibly save a person’s life through the work I do.

Last Year in my English 3 Honors Class, we read the book “The Kite Runner,” which is about Amir, who lives in the district Kabul in Afghanistan. It takes place during the fall of Afghanistan’s monarchy, the Soviet invasion and the rise of the Taliban regime and how Amir’s life was during that rough time. Reading that book made me realize how little I know what’s going on in the rest of the world. Not only that, it opened my eyes that novels are one of the few ways authors get their messages across on how much in need some places are. It shouldn’t take someone writing a novel to brain some sort of awareness of dire situations. It is heartbreaking to know that with historical fiction novels, some are based on things the author has to witness/go through and it’s heartbreaking. Reading that book reminds me of how important the arts are in bringing awareness to other people. Reading that book reminded me of my goal as an artist; to bring representation to the communities that need, deserve it.
