Spend at least an hour in an online forum that reflects a culture that is unfamiliar to you and where you are a minority. For example, you could:
· visit a social gaming community such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, Call of Duty Online, or World of Warcraft and explore alternative identities where a cultural group other than your own is the majority;
· spend time on a discussion site with people whose political views are radically different from your own;
· visit an online community where people of a different age group make up the majority; or,
· attend an online meeting of an organization or a religious group of which you are not a member.
You will find many options on the various social media platforms, and especially on Reddit.com, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
Write at least a 200-word reflection of your experience.
Ensure that your reflection includes the following:
· the name the site/space/organization, etc. that you observed.
· note what made this culture different from your own, and how that made you feel.
· list how the communication practices differ from your own, using at least three key terms from the chapter Verbal Communication at least three key terms from Nonverbal Communication. Underline these terms in your reflection.
