Our group has to choose a country in which we believe Disney should set up a fifth foreign theme park and to justify why we selected this country. We chose AUSTRAILA. This is my part in the project. There are two sections economic profile & cultural and normative profile. Please write the following instructions on opening a park in Australia.
Economic Profile: GDP (total and per capita); Balance of Payments (and its components); external debt (debt owned to other countries); debt service (in relation to exports as well as GDP); major sectors of the economy; major exports and imports; major trade partners and trade with them; inflation; exchange rate versus US$ or Euro; trends in all of the above.
Instructions:
Provide a comparison of your focal country and the other markets in which Disney operates theme parks (i.e. USA, Japan, France, Hong Kong) on at least: GDP (total and per capita), recent GDP growth, balance of trade, capital and current account balance, external debt as percent of exports and as percent of GDP, recent inflation.
Show further details and trends for your focal country (with the future market potential for Disney Theme Parks in mind). For this, you do not need to show comparative data for the other countries. Explain explicitly how the information you present support your country choice.
Cultural and normative profile: Discuss aspects of your focal country’s predominant religion(s), language(s), communication, social class structure, values and attitudes, customer preferences and tastes, aesthetics, widely accepted norms, expectations and obligations as well as other relevant and important cultural and normative characteristics that should be known to Disney when doing business in your focal country.
