In other words, you are NOT to summarize the content of individual articles (“author A says this, author B says that”), but rather to develop a theme (or two) from the assigned readings which your summary paragraphs succinctly draw through both week’s readings.
Students should pinpoint the overall argument of both Miner and Rabinow. Additionally, students should explain how the authors support their arguments and can even draw on examples from your readings. Summaries must be written in your own words!
The overall goal of this assignment is to further develop writing skills that focus on drawing out the main arguments of readings and writing them in a succinct way.
