Below this are the guidelines I have of my research paper. I don′t have any topic needed specifically but I would like for it to be about GDP affecting something like Arkansas or Walmart. I need cited sources and prefer my essay to be in APA format.

ECON2313 Final Project Guidelines
1. Topic, coverage and format: You can pick-up your own topic for final project. However, your
project should address the following points.
• The topic of this project should be related to macroeconomic issues covered in our class.
These issues include national output or national income (GDP or GNI), fiscal and
monetary policies, money and banking system, crypto-currencies (digital currency),
central banking (Federal Reserve), economic growth, income distribution (inequality),
inflation theory and measurement (CPI), employment and job market, international trade
and finance, business cycles (recessions and crisis).
• You are recommended to pick up one topic and study how macroeconomic factor could
impact a local economy. It is preferable to choose a town, city or county to study. For
certain topics, such as money and central banking, they may be discussed at national or
international levels. This kind of projects, however, must be done with a narrow focus on
specific issues, which will be clearly defined and get approved.
• The format of your project can be either as a Literature Review, Research Proposal, or a
Business Plan. To help you finish this project, we will break the whole process into three
steps. First, you can start to think about a topic may be of your interest in the Letter of
Introduction (HW1). In some cases, you may change your topic later. Second, you
develop the chosen topic into a one-page Introduction in the middle of this semester.
Last, the final draft of your project is due by the end of this course.
2. Your final project (paper) should include the parts as following.
• Introduction (or Outline)
• Motivation (or Background)
• Research Design or Methodology
• Results (if you have) or Data and Discussions
• Summary (or Conclusions)
• Citations (references, including web citation)
3. Your final paper is a 6-page double-spaced paper (a research proposal or a literature review).
Citations are not included in the 6 pages. The style of citations can be APA, MLA, the Chicago
Manual, ASA, Harvard Referencing and Vancouver reference style. It is due by the end of the

4. What is a literature review?
A literature review is a type of review article. A literature review is a scholarly paper, which
includes the current knowledge including substantive findings, as well as theoretical and
methodological contributions to a particular topic.
Literature reviews are secondary sources, and do not report new or original experimental work.
Most often associated with academic-oriented literature, such reviews are found in academic
journals, and are not to be confused with book reviews that may also appear in the same
publication. Literature reviews are a basis for research in nearly every academic field.

A narrow-scope literature review may be included as part of a peer-reviewed journal article
presenting new research, serving to situate the current study within the body of the relevant
literature and to provide context for the reader. In such a case, the review usually precedes the
methodology and results sections of the work.
5. What is a research proposal?
A research proposal is a document proposing a research project, generally in the sciences or
academia, and generally constitutes a request for sponsorship of that research. Proposals are
evaluated on the cost and potential impact of the proposed research, and on the soundness of the
proposed plan for carrying it out. Research proposals generally address several key points:
• What research question(s) will be addressed, and how they will be addressed
• How much time and expense will be required for the research?
• What prior research has been done on the topic?
• How the results of the research will be evaluated?
• Explain how the research will benefit the sponsoring organization and other parties?
