ABSTRACT ASSIGNMENT
As you all are preparing your short videos, I decided to post some information about the Abstract section of your final paper.
I think it will be helpful.
Abstract is a description of what the paper is about and what has been done in the paper. It is like a miniature, compressed version of the paper, where a reader can find out what has been studied in the paper and what type of results has been obtained, and what is the conclusion from the study. It is like an advertisement for the paper. Indeed, when you look for an article to start your research, you read the Abstract first to decide if you want to use that article or not.
The 4 “DOs” for writing your abstract:
• State the healthcare issue/topic & problem
• Explain the methods/procedures/approaches (list the inquiries, in order)
• Reveal your results and findings.
• Disclose/expose your concluding solution.
Follow the APA format – 200-250-words, first sentence not indented and do not forget the keywords.
Things to avoid in your Abstract:
· Do not refer in the Abstract to information that is not in the document.
· If possible, avoid trade names, acronyms, abbreviations, or symbols. You would need to explain them, and that takes too much space.
· Do not quote or paraphrase source material in the Abstract – leave that for the paper itself.
DIUSSCUTION FOR THIS WEDNESDAY
Build a three–slide PowerPoint (or Prezi) presentation that includes text and graphics. Outline your answers to the following questions:
· What are some specific questions you have concerning the final argument paper?
· What is your time–management plan for compiling and editing your final paper?
· What parts of your final paper do you anticipate will take the most time and attention? For example:
o Incorporating instructor feedback in your perspective papers
o Reworking the perspective papers into one cohesive paper
o Writing the introduction, conclusion, or abstract
o APA formatting
o Revising for grammar, spelling, and punctuation
2. Videos can be recorded using any software or tool, but all videos are required to be uploaded to My Panopto Videos for assignment submission.
You can also use the Panopto Desktop Recording tool to create your video.
