Follow these steps to write and submit a one-page Topic Proposal paper.
STEP 1: Select a controversial issue as a research paper topic.
STEP 2: Introduce the topic, which should consist of a controversial, debatable issue. Frame the argument, and briefly describe the two basic opposing viewpoints on the issue.
STEP 3: Explain why the issue is compelling or interesting to you. Why do you want to write a paper on it?
STEP 4: Briefly describe what you already know about it. If you do not know much about the issue, just say so. Do not create information about it or plagiarize information about it from some source. Just provide general information or common knowledge reported in the news and so on; do not state specific facts or statistics that you would need to consult some source to learn
STEP 5: Explain what else you need to learn about the issue in order to write a persuasive research paper about it.
STEP 6: Clearly state which position you plan to take on the issue in your paper. This position may change as you conduct research on your topic.
