Assignment week 5
For your assignment this week, please design a one day menu for your 3, 6 and 14 year old children that meets the RDA’s in the link provided. Please indicate for each child your total servings at the end of the day.
You can figure on 3 meals and 1-2 snacks. Please try to be realistic about fast foods, restaurants or home cooking.
Also you must decide whether or not you will be cooking 4 separate meals (for each age and yourself) or how to best cover your bases with similar meals for all. (Many parents end up eating leftovers.)
Remember the more creative, colorful, or hands on your meals are, the more likely they will try them. Let them help to prepare or assemble foods.
***Less than 2% of children meet all RDA’s for federal guidelines on a daily basis.
You can not control how much they eat. You CAN, however, control what you buy and what you offer to them. Often it tales up to 12 times of offering a new food for kids to decide it is edible. Also, Water is a great addition to any meal.
