Write a concise review of the secondary literature regarding your art object, in which you both discuss the state of investigation (aka: status quaestionis) regarding (an aspect of) your art object and show how your research question is embedded in, connected to and/or derives from the secondary literature you have consulted (750 words). You do not have to discuss each and every publication on your list in detail, but do point to and elaborate on which of the references are key publications and/or which authors are authorities on the subject. Try to be specific about what these authors have written, and how their ideas and conceptions have been informed by their research methods and approaches.
Using the bibliography attached, the research question for this assignment is: “the reasoning behind the symbolic meanings and specific figures in the piece, such as the recurring owl in most of his works and the mystical creatures depicted in this piece.” Specifically his piece, The Garden of Earthly Delights.
