How do you consume cultural products within these two contexts?

For this assignment you are tasked with preparing a short narrative essay in which you will critically reflect on your own consumption of, and participation in, popular culture. Your work will discuss two cultural contexts—the digital and the material. Some questions you could reflect on and use to ground your work, include (but are not limited to):
How do you consume cultural products within these two contexts?
What does that consumption look like—where, when, how, with whom, etc.?
How does your consumption differ across the two contexts—what technologies, social relations, or sets of knowledges does your participation require, etc.?

Your work should draw links between consumption practices and identity formation/identity performance, addressing how, and in what ways, consuming popular culture influences your identity and the performance of that identity.
This assignment is both a personal reflection and critical engagement with course material. Your essay should draw links to the ‘Culture’ and ‘Masses’ reading by reading by Raymond Williams. Do NOT do additional research for this assignment: your work should utilize assigned reading material only.

You may discuss any aspect of popular culture or any specific popular culture product or practice. You do not need to ‘prove’ that a specific product or practice is ‘actually popular’ to critically reflect on your consumption of it or engagement with it.

Feel free to include any relevant images or links in the essay.
The use of ‘I’ and other personal pronouns is thus unavoidable and also welcomed and encouraged: go forth, use ‘I’ and speak from the first person
