For this project, you will compose a 2-3-page, typed essay answering the following question:
A good experiment has both an experimental group that receives the treatment and a control group that does not receive the treatment. In research on the effectiveness of a new non-medical therapy for a particular disorder, participants are randomly divided into the experimental and control groups. If a person is doing the research because he or she believes that the new therapy will prove to be more effective than the current therapies for the disorder, is it ethical to withhold the experimental treatment from the ill people in the control group? Why, or why not?
