In-service Development for school personal

Brief Proposal 2 pages in length and PowerPoint 10 to 12 slides total.

Students
will select a topic that negatively affects student outcomes and develop an in-service
that will educate school personnel on how to address it or shift the school
culture to be more accommodating to vulnerable students.
Topics may include social-emotional learning,
mindfulness, risk and protective factors associated with human development, recognizing
signs of suicidal ideation, mandated reporting, restorative justice, or
some other topic of interest.
Students will write a brief proposal
describing the need to address the chosen issue and how they would engage
stakeholders (e.g., teachers, administrators, students, parents, etc.) to plan
and implement the in-service.
Students will then create a presentation
(e.g., PowerPoint, short video) on the issue with the following
components:
• Identify the issue and why it needs to be
addressed.
• Discuss
how school personnel can become agents of change or be more supportive in the
effort.
• Identify
next steps toward resolving the issue.
• Create
Cheatsheets/CliffsNotes for participants (i.e., a slide or document that
highlights the main points of the presentation)
