Incident Command System

As we learnt this week the the Incident Command System comprises five major functional areas which are: Command, Operations, Planning, Logistics, and Finance/Administration. I would like you to explain, in your own words:
A brief description of these area and what they are responsible for,
how these functions areas may effect another area,
why these area may have to work with each other,
why do you think that these functional areas are separated?
