Conference Style
Presentation
The purpose of these presentations is to explore a current
nursing issue give students (Interventions and educational offering to nursing staff that increase the quality of care in Nursing homes). Additionally, the students will prepare a
conference style presentation, with visual aids (Power Point). The presentation
must not exceed the prescribed timeframe, 10 minutes (we all know we do not
like it when speakers go overtime at a conference). Students are expected to
use a variety of sources (including the text) in preparing their presentation.
1. Content (140 points)
a. Overview (20
pts.)
i. Present an overview of the
issue; highlight especially significant features. Include what you plan to
cover in the presentation.
b. Information
(140 pts.)
i. Provide a
clear comprehensive review of the information and facts.
ii. How does this
issue relate to nursing?
iii. Point out
differing perspectives on the issue as it relates to health care.
c. Summary (20
pts.)
i. Summarize the
issue accurately and succinctly.
d. Reference slide
(points included in information section)
i. Reference
slide in correct APA format.
2. Presentation (60 points)
a. Organization
(10 pt.)
i. Coordinate
presentation of material and provide smooth transition between slides.
b. Professionalism
(20 pts.)
i. Present a
professional image in appearance and behavior.
ii. Use
professional language with correct grammar.
c. Quality of A/V
Materials (20 pts.)
i. Develop
creative and appealing A/V materials (Power Point, Prezi, powtown).
