MAPPING, ANALYSING AND VISUALISING DATA QGIS

There are three tasks – all similar using predominately QGIS. An example of task one is below
Task one
Mapping Victorian COVID-19 cases
1. Download and extract the following Victorian local government, Australia Shapefiles:
https://lms.latrobe.edu.au/mod/resource/view.php?id=5103798
2. Find the latest available data from https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/
3. Load the Shapefiles into QGIS.
4. Turn on labels to show the name of the local government area.
5. Add a base map layer (eg OpenStreetMap)
6. Add an integer attribute field called “cases” to the layer.
7. Enter the number of cases for each area using the Attribute Table (minimum 5 areas).
8. Turn on categorised symbology by cases.
9. Using the Layout tool in QGIS, create a poster detailing COVID-19 case by local
government area (minimum 5 areas). The poster must include:
• Title (describing the data)
• Date of data.
• Map
• Legend
• Sources
10. Export as a PDF
