This paper will require you to interview a person juggling multiple roles (e.g., a single mother who works full-time; a father who is the primary caretaker and works from home).
While you do not have to record your interview, you are encouraged to take notes (with the permission of your interviewee) to help you write your paper later.
Your paper should be 3-5 pages and include the following:
Brief summary of the various roles held by the person you select to interview
Emotional/physical impact of these roles upon the individual
Buffers or barriers that support or hinder the individual (e.g., a romantic partner/spouse, scheduled time for self-care, financial or other resources)
Reference at least 3 terms introduced in lecture (i.e., motherhood mandate, second shift) that apply to the experiences of your interviewee
What changes the interviewee would like to see in the workplace or existing social structures that would benefit him or her in balancing multiple roles?
How did the research and theories we have discussed in class relate to your experience (include at least 3 references; one may be your textbook)?
