Format of the Term Paper:
The paper will be formatted in APA style. (citations, references, quotations, hanging indents, etc)
No running-head
The term paper will begin with a one sentence Thesis Statement.
The paper is to be a minimum of 5 and maximum of 8, complete, typed pages.
The paper will be double-spaced using 12 point Times (or similar) font with one-inch margins. Don’t justify right margin.
Paragraph length: Never more than half a page.
Don’t skip four spaces between paragraphs. Rather, identify each paragraph by indenting five spaces.
Essay format: an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
You are required to have a cover sheet and a reference sheet. These DO NOT count as part of the 5-page minimum.
There should be no less than 7 references, and a parenthetical citation for each reference.
At least one reference must come from Gabbard. (Gabbard, C. P. (2018). Lifelong Motor Development. 7th Ed. Pearson, Benjamin Cummings: San Francisco, CA.)
Pagination:
The Cover Page is NOT numbered.
Page one (with the Thesis Statement at the top) is NOT numbered
Each page after the first (do not number page 1) should have your name and page number in upper right corner. Ex: Your last name 2
Sentence congruence (singular/plural).
Restrictive versus a Non-restrictive Clause (That/Which)
Write in 3rd person (he, she, it, they, this writer, etc)
Avoid ending a sentence with a preposition.
Avoid using colloquialisms.
Avoid using a personal pronoun to describe an inanimate object.
Term paper must contain at least one quote.
Use ‘word economy’ and be mindful of the length of a paragraph.
Title page essentials: Topic, your name, class, date.
