what I want you to do is to go into the novel and find specific examples that will support the claims of Kiefer et al.
1. In Chapter 7 (Contemporary Realistic Fiction), Kiefer et al believe “that children need to have the book as a mirror – to mirror their physical self, their lives, and their family experiences . . . they also need the window – the book that takes them into other worlds, that expands their horizons” (222). Using specific examples from Baskin’s novel, explain how she meets this criterion. Find at least one example for each of her five criteria mentioned above.
