Ottoman Empire on the eve of World War I has often been described as the sick man of Europe. How well does this description reflect theOttoman Empires military performance during the war?

Students are required to submit a research essay on a topic relevant to the history
of the modern Middle East and approved by the instructor. Essays shall be typed,
double-spaced, and 1500-2000 words (8-10 pages) in length (exclusive of title
page, bibliography and footnotes or endnotes.
Students must follow the requirements for format and citation as outlined in
Guidelines for Academic Essays available on the course website. The Chicago style
is required for footnotes and endnotes as well as bibliographic citations.
Students must use a minimum of five scholarly sources in the writing of their
essays. Students should consult the instructor if they have any question as to the
permissibility or scholarly character of the sources they propose to use in the
writing of their essays.
Students are advised to retain a copy of their essays, rough materials and working
notes until the original has been returned to you. You may be asked to produce
them.
Essays are due, through the appropriate Brightspace assignment folder, no later
than June 18, 2021, by midnight.
The sources used must be scholarly.
