This is a research paper, and in addition to the primary source, you are required to use at least 5 secondary sources for support. Remember to avoid using encyclopedias, as they are too general. Your research may consist of topical sources (books on history or gender), but at least three of your sources should be literary criticism.
Format
The essay should be 1500-2000 words long. Use MLA format (https://bergen.libguides.com/citationguides/mla). You must use proper documentation for each source used. This includes documenting quotes, paraphrases, and summaries. Failure to document properly will result in a grade of 0 due to plagiarism.
What I Will Be Looking For
I will mainly be looking at how well you can support your argument. Make sure that the essay stays focused on the literature itself. Dont simply make this a report on the social issue. As with any essay, Organization and Grammar are important. In addition, I will be looking at how well you integrate your sources into the essay, how appropriate your source material is to your analysis, and how effective it is as support.
