Using the lectures textbook write an essay that discusses the REPERCUSSIONS of the fall of the Roman Empire. How did the collapse of Roman authority affect Europe and the larger Mediterranean world? What power(s) or empire(s) replaced the Romans in these regions? Include in your discussion separate paragraphs on:
1. Medieval Europe;
2. The Byzantine Empire; and
3. The Islamic Empire (including Northern Africa).
Describe the authorities, cultures and ideas that developed in these regions. Conclude by assessing the ways Medieval Europe, the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Empire inherited the vestiges of Roman culture and power. And in what ways did they discard the Roman legacy?
