Your completed assignment should consist of the following:
Clear title(this can be a working title that you tweak as you research)
A brief introduction ( 1-2 pages ) that clearly states your research topic or issue and briefly places it in the context of an educational/professional setting in today’s world. It should describe where this issue comes from, how it is significant in the field today, and why it might be important within your actual or desired professional setting.
Body of review (6- 8 pages) Your review should describe and evaluate a minimum of 10-15 primary research study sources, 2-3 of which could include the following: (a) pioneering studies that give a historical context of the research area; or (b) studies that have defined or coined the important terms or definitions in the field. You are trying to find important recent research studies (not people’s arguments or theories) implemented by major figures in the field. Your studies should paint a picture of the landscape of the research specific to your research topic. A reference list for the studies you cite in the literature review should also be included. Note: If you wish to include secondary sources to provide background or further context, you may do so, but do not count them toward your minimum of 10-15 primary research study sources.
Process and Review Once you have searched and discovered the studies, then begin the writing process. Provide a synthesis of various studies under different sub-sections, centering on 2-3 key ideas or “issues” surrounding the research studies relevant to the problem. Each key idea can be a sub-section, a category that shows the reader what are the important areas in your topic. Under each key idea (sub-section), you should summarize at least one major study in the field in addition to brief summary of supporting literature. The summary should include the study’s research questions, subjects, context, data collection methods, findings, strengths and weaknesses. Conclude each sub-section with a paragraph that sums up works cited in that sub-section. All citations need to be in APA format.
Conclusions and Discussion (usually 1 page)
In your final paragraph, discuss what you have surmised/concluded regarding your topic, what is significant as a result of your research and in what direction are you leading in this area, how is it leading you to a design for your action research proposal.
