1. Review the portion of the table/spreadsheet you created that has the activities listed for NELP Standard 1: Mission, Vision, and Improvement. Make certain that the activities you listed under each component actually meet at least part of that component. NOTE: If you notice you initially included a standard component in the wrong place, you can move it at any time. Just remember to revise the table/spreadsheet and re-upload it to Canvas. 2. The written report – INSTRUCTIONS: NELP Standard 1.1 List and describe the internship activities that address this component. The description must indicate which part of the component the activity addressed. For example: Created/Analyzed Survey – wrote a survey for teachers to complete to indicate what values and priorities are in place at the school, as well as their perspective on how well the school uses data to improve student performance within various subgroups within the school. Shared the results with the administrative team and leadership team and participated in discussion of next steps based on the information. This description tells the reviewer that the candidate met the portion of this standard component that addresses collaborating on the core values/priorities set by the school especially in relationship to data use and diversity AND that there is a need to see if the candidate has another activity that addresses development and evaluation of a school mission/vision and if there is thought given to technology, equity, digital citizenship and community. If not, the candidate is expected to state those as a weakness and develop an action plan for completion in the near future. Provide the artifact name that matches each activity at the beginning or end of each activity description. For example: Survey Results 1.1 Strengths section – Specifically point out any strengths in your internship activities by stating how you met each part of this standard component. Pay attention to every word of each standard component and specify what you met and HOW you met it to the point that it is a strength (in other words, tell WHY it is a strength by stating what was done/accomplished). If there is not strength in this component, address that issue in a statement. Weaknesses Section – Discuss which part of the standard or standard component is not met fully. Again, pay attention to every word of each standard component. Specify which part of the standard is not met or that you consider a weakness. NOTE: You must have an action plan for every weakness cited. If you do not identify a weakness within a component, you will not have an action plan for that component BUT you need a statement to that effect for that component so it does not look like you just skipped it. ALSO – having a weakness and action plan actually shows you as a reflective educator and does not negatively affect your grade. Action Plan – Create a plan of action that you intend to implement before you orally defend your Internship, which takes place in Internship II: The Defense. Include when you will engage in this new activity (a timeline). NOTE: The team of reviewers you will face during Internship II (the oral defense) will have a copy of this document that you are creating and may ask you if you followed through on your action plan. You are showing the reviewers that you can be thoughtful about what you need to do to improve as an administrator. Reflection section – write a brief reflection that encapsulates what you learned in this standard component overall while engaging in the internship activities you listed in your description. Think deeply. Do not just repeat words form the standard or from your written information. The Same instructions apply for NELP Standard 2 and 3. The rubric says standard 1 rubric but it applies for standards 2 and 3 as well. Each form must be completed for each standard and substandard. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you!
