Here’s what I want you to focus on:
The Handmaid’s Tale has been referred to as “a scathing satire and a dire warning”…
What elements of contemporary society is Margaret Atwood satirizing? What seems to be the ordinary view of women in this particular phrase? Discuss the author’s treatment of the dangers of passivity. Also, can you connect this to the article by Peter G. Stillman and Sarah Anne Johnson, “Identity, Complicity, and Resistance in The Handmaid’s Tale” and also make a connection with “Mexican Gothic” by Silvia on Roles of Identity of women. Make sure to write evidence from these readings.
