Choose a recent news/mainstream article (within the past 2 years) that discusses a scientific article and/or study related to psychopathology. Read the article and the original scientific article. The news/mainstream article must be approved beforehand (approximately 2 weeks before the due date of the assignment). The New York Times Health Selection and Time Magazine may be good place to start your search for a mainstream article. The scientific article can be accessed through the VU electronic library system, PSYCINFO, etc. Brief summary of the mainstream article and why you chose this particular subject (2 paragraphs) 10 points Brief summary of the original scientific article (2-3 paragraphs) 20 points Analysis/comparison of the articles (1-2 pages) 40 points Does the news article accurately reflect the original scientific article? What is the relevance of this subject in the field of psychology and counseling? How do these articles contribute to your knowledge base?
