Design a writing lesson that focuses on the development of critical literacy. The lesson plan must use the
TEKS from TEKS Resource Center (state of Texas) and the lesson needs to focus on either Kindergarten
or 1st grade. The lesson should include goals, objectives, TEKS to be addressed, teaching strategies,
materials needed, expected outcomes, and assessments. The lesson can be planned with the teacher
using a mentor text (geared towards Kinder or 1st) that has critical literacy skills in the story but the
overall lesson needs to be a writing lesson. I will send the link for TEA that shows the TEKS for each
grade level and the lesson needs to be in a “template” style format or written out as indicated with all of
the things needed above. The lesson only needs to be for 1 day and the time allowed to teach the entire
lesson is 90 minutes.
