You are focusing on how the lives of individual people changed not how society as a whole changed.
The best categories are very broad and allow for multiple examples from multiple chapters. A better category is moved locations (could apply to lots of different groups moving from one place to another) rather than moved West (which only applies to moving West.)
Your essay structure should follow the required format and include three kinds of ways lives changed (including an action verb to show the change) and not be three groups of people or three periods of time. For example, people moved locations. This would allow you to discuss people moving during Reconstruction (chapter 16), Asian immigrants or African Americans to the West (chapter 17), rural migrants to the city to work (chapter 18), immigrants coming to the United States (chapter 19), and Coxey’s army (chapter 20).
You will go into less detail about any one source used that when you learn the material each week. For examples. you don’t need to provide a long explanation of the background of a primary source, just include a quote and footnote to use that source as evidence in support of your argument.
You should include information from three categories: 1) all relevant textbook chapters (chapters 16-20), 2) all relevant assigned primary source readings, 3) and relevant class material including lectures. Do not use any material that I have not provided.
You should use as many examples as possible from the three categories. Assigned material included the textbook chapter, the lecture and film clips, and the primary sources. You need to include ALL of the material assigned in each category. There are five textbooks chapter, five lectures, and eight primary sources. Textbook chapters are have the most information and require multiple references from each chapter. Each of the other sources should include at least one reference.
Your purpose is to provide evidence in support of an argument, not just state what happened in the material.
Use Chicago format for the footnotes and bibliography. You must use footnotes. All written sources, including the primary sources, must include page numbers.
