M1 Written Assignment: Research Analysis
You identified a recent social issue or problem in the M1 Discussion and examined a news article about this topic. Now it is time to find an academic article about the topic and analyze that article. Review Massey University’s Identifying Academic Sources if you are not sure if a source is academic. Analyze this article by explaining the theoretical perspectives and the methods that the author(s) used for the study. Make sure that you discuss the following:
*Previous work from M1 discussion will be attached*
What was the research question?
What was the purpose of the study (exploratory, descriptive, explainatory)?
What was the theoretical foundation for the study? Specifically, did the author use a functionalist, conflict, or interactive perspective for the research?
Did the authors use a quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approach to the question?
Did the authors use a probability or non-probability sampling design?
Did the authors use a cross-sectional or longitudinal sampling design? If it was longitudinal, what type of study was it (cohort, panel, trend)?
What ethical considerations did the researchers face in their project?
What were the findings of their research?
Finally, compare the scholarly article with your news article. Are there similar and/or different perspectives about the social issue or problem?
Make sure that you cite your article in APA style and add the link to the article.
