What identity does it communicate and what resources does it offer to its stakeholders to identify with that identity?

For this individual assignment, apply one or two concepts from discussions in Module 3 (communication technologies and network theory) and/or Module 4 (organizational change and organizational identity) to organizational experiences. An organization need not be a workplace. It can be any community. Write at least two paragraphs explaining how a particular organizational experience/practice/communication can be explained by using one or two of the concepts you read in Module 3 and/or Module 4. This can be something you have read in the media. Or, it can be your own experience.
Here are a few ideas:
Think of the resources Disney offers its customers to identify with its theme of “happiness”. However, its employees have often complained that they are not paid well by the organization. How will Disney employees then identify with its core theme of “happiness”? It can be argued that Disney seems to play up its identity for mainly its external stakeholders. Disney’s organizational practice around the theme of “happiness” can be explained by the concept of “multiple and conflicting identities” discussed in Chapter 5 on organizational identity.
Or, related, think of your workplace experience. What identity does it communicate and what resources does it offer to its stakeholders to identify with that identity?
Or, think of the discussion in Chapter 12 on media technologies. Can you think of analyzing the communication in your choice of organization through media richness theory? How does the organization choose its medium for its messages?
