What is Social Case Work?

For this week’s reading, I want you to look at one of Mary Richmond’s books, What is Social Case Work? Mary Ellen Richmond (1861–1928) is considered to be one of Social Work’s founding “mothers.” She is regarded as the mother of professional social work along with Jane Addams. She founded social case work, the first method of social work and was herself a Caseworker.
Please take time this entire week to read the first part of her book (up to page 125, up to Chapter 5).
The entire book is long, 260 pages. We will take the next two weeks to read this book.
For this week and this first part of her book, I want you to read up to page 125 and come up with a reaction to the first half of her book.
