Write a summary of the article that you have chosen to read. A guide has been provided to assist you in completing this assignment. All work must reflect college level writing, but using APA format as if this were a paper is not necessary. You may use the worksheet to submit your responses if you like. Use as many words as necessary to convey your ideas.
You will select a journal article of your choice that explores a topic in your course and/or assigned by the instructor. Feel free to look ahead at chapters that have not been covered.
The articles must:
Be found in PEER REVIEWED journals
Contain an EXPERIMENT conducted by the authors of the article OR
Contain CORRELATIONAL RESEARCH conducted by the authors of the article
Be publish during or after 2015
For the article, you must identify the following
Type of Research – experimental or correlational
Hypothesis
Research Method
Results
You must summarize and assess the article
Is it useful? How can it be applied?
What could have been done to improve the study?
Was there anything about it that might limit its validity?
Research Articles
Research articles are correlational or experimental, peer-reviewed studies that state a specific hypothesis and then apply a treatment to the participants to test the hypothesis, report the results and draw conclusions from the study. They all have the same sections:
Abstract – a statement summarizing the article
Introduction – explains the topic, the purpose of the study and the hypothesis.
Method – explains how the study was conducted
Results – includes the findings of the data, usually in statistics
Discussion – the author’s commentary on the results. This includes is the hypothesis was correct, if the research questions were answered and how the research felt about the study.
Conclusion – summarized the key points of the experimental results
References- a complete list of articles mentioned/used in the article or research
