What is the process of applying for a job as a corrections officer?

Correctional officer jobs at the city, county, and state levels require a high school diploma; however, correctional officers working in the federal penitentiaries are required to have a college degree. Even though correctional officers are not required to have a degree in local or state facilities, having a degree can contribute to a higher starting salary and promotions. Jobs in corrections can be demanding mentally, physically, and emotionally. Correctional officers are not just limited to inmate supervision. There are many opportunities within a prison system besides custody.
For this activity, you will research the qualifications necessary to enter the field of corrections. You will also investigate the job opportunities available for those interested in a position in corrections field. The research should specifically examine one state correctional facility site and one federal correctional facility site.
Please review the video: “A Day in the Life of a Correctional Officer” and then complete the assignment.
