We talked about risk management within the organizations for the past several weeks. This week’s reading aligns us within that bubble but gives us an edge to see risk and mitigation within the organization and around the organization’s spheres. My takeaway from this week’s reading is that innovation and technology have bridged the world into a global village, connecting more people than ever and bringing people of the same mindset closer to fighting for a common cause. Political risk that affects business happens everywhere, and organizations that want to stay competitive must be able to get ahead and be ready to understand, analyze, mitigate, and respond to political risk to stay alive. It is pivotal to develop a robust system that identifies the potential threat, measures, monitors and controls them in an organization to meet its strategies and goals. This action plan reduces unwanted impacts in the project life cycle, builds on current best practices, and looks into leadership experience and research. To mitigate risk, we need to engage our core external stakeholders in political risk mitigation. Layout a backup and recovery plan and inform the clients, suppliers, and agents how we intend to deal with unexpected political risk and, if appropriate, synchronize our risk response.
