College English II is the second part of two writing courses designed to help students master the academic writing skills needed to succeed in college. For this class, students are required to complete two academic research papers (RP). The first research paper is a literary analysis of one of the short stories from modules 1-4. Students are required to create an argumentative, research-based essay using the Modern Language Association style (MLA). The second research paper a literary analysis that reflects on poetic or dramatic works from modules 5-7. Both essays must utilize a strong thesis statement to define the argument and use academic research based on the schools of literary criticism.
All work in the course must be original drafts created for this class.
To aid students in completing these tasks, each module includes an assignment that is intended to fulfill a portion of these major writing assignments. After completing each module’s assignment, you should have drafted something that is usable in your research paper.

For this assignment we will be creating two documents: an MLA Style template and a one-page paper using that template that addresses this prompt:
What is the most important thing an author should know to write a high-quality academic research paper?
For the first part of this assignment, you need to create a document on your word processor that can act as an MLA template for every paper you have to write in this course. The template will have the header, your name, “professor’s name,” date, and course in the proper place on the page. Be sure you put in a blank title and an empty “Works Cited” page for your template as well. The key to this assignment is simply making certain you know what pieces an MLA formatted paper needs to have and where they go.
For the second part of this assignment, please write a 300-500-word response to the question prompt above in the MLA template that you created. Be sure to carefully consider your answer.
