You will be responsible for completing one writing assignment for this course (8-10 written
pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font; papers that do not reach this or exceed
this range will result in a deduction depending on the severity). This writing assignment will be a
policy paper in which you will select a topic to examine extensively and prepare a well-
articulated paper summarizing what you find. This is not an opinion paper! I do not want to
hear your opinion on the topic, and you will fail the assignment if you go down that road. You
must be objective in your assessment of the policy of your choice based on the evidence
presented. In essence, this writing assignment has little to do with your domain assumptions
(personal beliefs and value systems). Instead, all conclusions and inferences should be
restricted to those that are provided by the scientific and academic literature (i.e., peer
reviewed journal articles)
