letter to old, wiser self

Students will write a letter from the perspective of being at the end of the lifespan. Imagine that you have grown to be a healthy, wise old person and are reflecting over your life. In the role of “older, wiser, self” write a letter identifying TWO significant transitions across the lifespan from birth to elderhood that impacted you and the life you chose to live. In chronological order (e.g. birth, infancy, early childhood, etc.) explain the impact of those significant transitions on your life and expand upon whether you successfully navigated those transitions. How did that continue to affect the next developmental phases? Use the letter to respond by offering comfort, advice, and helpful instructions for getting through each period of life based on what you have learned from old age. What would this wonderful, old, wiser person suggest to help get through these phases of life? Be sure to incorporate developmental psychology concepts to demonstrate mastery of course content. For example, if reflecting on childhood, one could discuss the impact of caregiver attachment styles, Erikson’s psychosocial crises, Piaget’s Cognitive Developmental Theory, etc.

Be mindful that this paper is a culmination of all that you have learned about the different development stages up until this point in this course. As such, in addition to your reflection on personal experiences you should incorporate specific knowledge learned about the different developmental stages. For example, if you choose to reflect on Adolescence (which many students do) I would expect to see concepts such as puberty, Erikson’s Identity versus Role Confusion, crowds, clique, imaginary audience, etc. Write about what applied to you during this time. Papers are not shared and follow the rules of confidentiality, so speak as freely as you wish.

The paper should be 4-5 pages in length including a title page. Points will be deducted for any papers whose body of writing is less than three pages (not counting title and/or Reference pages). There is no requirement or expectation for scientific research. As you will be demonstrating knowledge learned from the text, the book may be your only reference unless you so choose to incorporate outside sources. If so, be sure to cite properly. Standard APA formatting and writing standards apply (i.e. spell check, grammar check, 12 pt. font, Times New Roman, 1-inch margins, double spaced, headings, etc.) Headings should identify each of the identified life stage transition points.Students will write a letter from the perspective of being at the end of the lifespan. The role of successful transformation in Spirited Away and failed transformation in Son of a Trickster

Hello. I would like a essay done. This is for a university English class. Here is the prompt:

Examine how two course texts employ the trope of transformation as failed or
successful teaching. Is the transformation external or internal? Is it into something
the characters always were or have newly become? Do the texts see
transformation as a sign of successful self-knowledge or failure to adopt right
behaviour? Examine how two course texts employ the trope of transformation as failed or

I am using the texts of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away (film) and Eden Robinson’s Son of a Trickster (novel). I will attach my completed proposal. Preferably, please stick as close to my original proposal
and thesis statement as possible but you can use different peer-reviewed sources then what I have
currently in the annotated bibliography.

Week 5 Discussion: The Selling of Religion

As we are looking at two of our larger religions this week, I think it would be interesting to look at how Christianity and Judaism are evolving in modern times.

This week I would like you to read this article suggesting that perhaps it is time for Synagogues to follow the current working model of the Mega-Church.

What are your thoughts on the Jewish faith following the model which seems to work so well for so many?

https://forward.com/opinion/213298/it-s-time-for-the-jewish-megachurch/Links to an external site.

What are your thoughts on how these megachurches are working?

Do they retain the same basic tenets and faiths of the smaller, more local parishes?

Here is an example of one I stumbled across many years ago and saw how people could be drawn to the message as well as the theatricality of the sermon.

Recognizing Your Value – Joel Osteen

How do you feel about messages presented this way?

Should religious institutions be maintained as a “Sunday only and only if you stop on by” service?

Or should you be able to pull up some inspiration off YouTube on a Thursday at 2 am if you would rather?

And we also need to look into concerns over whether these institutions really ARE helping the people or are they simply money-making opportunities. The video by John Oliver is obviously satire, so take what he says in that vein… there certainly are some mega-churches out there who do a lot of good, but there are some pretty valid points for you to discuss here as well. (Please be aware this video contains some language you might find offensive and is intended for mature audiences.)

Televangelists: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO) Published on Aug 16, 2015

What are your thoughts on some of the abuses these churches are doing in the name of “helping” their parishioners?

Do you consider these people to really represent Christianity?

Do they do more good or more harm?

Do you feel these are the norm or the exception?

This last one is a bit long and not in English, so I do not expect you to listen to the whole message, but there certainly is much we can say about His Holiness taking to YouTube and #popefrancis (He even has channels in different languages!)

His Holiness Pope Francis at TED2017. Why the only future worth building includes everyone.

Internal Controls

Overview:
Internal controls are methods and strategies used to keep information and inventory safe from theft and to easily tell if something is compromised or missing. In this assignment, you will recommend internal controls for safeguarding inventory from an accounting perspective and explain which financial statements are affected by missing inventory.

Scenario:
One of your friends has opened a new wholesale electronics business and wants your help figuring out some inventory issues they are facing.

One night last week, there seemed to be fewer HD televisions in the warehouse than they expected. The last time they were in the warehouse was a week earlier, and they hadn’t noticed anything amiss.

As they looked around, they saw that the evening warehouse worker was filling the last orders of the day. The delivery driver and day warehouse worker were gone for the day, and the delivery van keys were on the desk that the warehouse workers shared. The doors to the loading dock were open, as was the door to the office area where the accountant, two customer service specialists, and the owner worked.

Knowing that you are familiar with accounting principles, they asked for your help in figuring out how to prevent this in the future.

Prompt:

Based on what you have learned about internal controls, provide recommendations on what controls the business owner should put in place to prevent loss of inventory and ensure that any losses are reported immediately. Also, specify which parts of the financial statements are affected by these losses.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

• Role of Internal Controls:
– Explain the role of internal controls in business settings. Also explain how not having internal controls in place may impact the accurate analysis of any wrongdoing.

• Recommendations:

– Recommend at least two internal controls that should be put in place to prevent inventory from going “missing,” noting any assumptions you are making about the root cause of the missing products and how your recommendations will help address them.

– Recommend at least one control that should be put in place to alert the owner if something is actually missing.

• Financial Statements:

– If you found that two $400 HD televisions were missing, explain which financial statements you would correct and how. Be specific as to accounts and amounts.

• Citations and Attributions:

– Support your response with cited sources using APA style.

• Guidelines for Submission:

– Submit a 1- to 2-page Word document with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

All topics, notes, and ideas are works in progress. You may choose to switch topics at any point (with my approval), but if you do the research and find good sources at the beginning, it will save you from discovering you don’t have enough material later.

The best place to look for peer reviewed, scholarly sources is Google Scholar https://scholar.google.com/
