Qatar

You are asked to develop a 5 – 7 minute oral presentation in which you will impart information you have learned through research about a specific exotic culture. Keep in mind that this class is titled Issues in Literature and Culture – not Geography or History. Your presentation should encompass information about the country’s language(s), foods, clothes, art, music, dance, traditions, morals, values, etc. It is ok to point to the area on a map, but not to expound on the region’s size, terrain, demographics, or historical relevance, UNLESS any of those things relate to or have affected the area’s culture. The same holds true for mentioning historical facts without making the data the focus of your presentation.
Think about what language(s) are spoken there. What are their typical or staple foods? Are there any special holiday celebrations that are noteworthy? Who are its artists, and what type of art is produced? Is there a specific type of dance that originated in the country? What type of music is listened to? How are women and children valued? Is there a major religion/belief? If it’s a region you are covering, don’t just talk about 1 or 2 countries, try to cover a more comprehensive area. Give us a “taste” of the country/region.
Time will be a factor. Be sure your time is organized properly, shouldn’t be too long nor too short. Time seems to always be the aspect that hurts the person the most. The information and how clearly it is delivered is part of the grade.
Make sure to introduce what region/country you’re presenting. A simple mention of what culture you’re going to be talking about is fine, something at least to smooth into the presentation, rather than just a cold jump into the presentation.
You’re welcome to be creative with your presentation. Don’t let the other media speak for YOU! The media is used to enhance your information. If you use a video make sure it’s no longer than 30 seconds; if you want to show something longer then you should mute the volume and talk over the scenes. And, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not read the PowerPoint slides to us. We can read for ourselves. You can refer to the slides and read some of the information on it, but don’t make it your script. If you’re going to read, use note cards or regular paper for your information. Also, don’t forget you have an audience. Look up every so often; try to make the presentation as natural as possible.

Research the term BFOQ. Explain its importance and relevance to HRM. How might not appropriately incorporating well defined BFOQs lead to difficulties for the organization? How would the concept of BFOQ be linked to “disparate treatment” and/or “disparate impact” in respect to staffing? What is the link between the ADA (1990) and BFOQs? Present your views in 200 words or more in your discussion post.

ASSESSING AND DIAGNOSING PATIENTS WITH ANXIETY DISORDERS, PTSD, AND OCD

Review this week’s Learning Resources and consider the insights they provide about assessing and diagnosing anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma- and stressor-related disorders.
Download the Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation Template, which you will use to complete this Assignment. Also review the Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation Exemplar to see an example of a completed evaluation document.
By Day 1 of this week, select a specific video case study to use for this Assignment from the Video Case Selections choices in the Learning Resources. View your assigned video case and review the additional data for the case in the “Case History Reports” document, keeping the requirements of the evaluation template in mind.
Consider what history would be necessary to collect from this patient.
Consider what interview questions you would need to ask this patient.
Identify at least three possible differential diagnoses for the patient.

Identify at least three possible differential diagnoses for the patient.
Subjective: What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? What is the duration and severity of their symptoms? How are their symptoms impacting their functioning in life?
Objective: What observations did you make during the psychiatric assessment?
Assessment: Discuss the patient’s mental status examination results. What were your differential diagnoses? Provide a minimum of three possible diagnoses with supporting evidence, listed in order from highest priority to lowest priority. Compare the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria for each differential diagnosis and explain what DSM-5-TR criteria rules out the differential diagnosis to find an accurate diagnosis. Explain the critical-thinking process that led you to the primary diagnosis you selected. Include pertinent positives and pertinent negatives for the specific patient case.
Reflection notes: What would you do differently with this client if you could conduct the session over? Also include in your reflection a discussion related to legal/ethical considerations (demonstrate critical thinking beyond confidentiality and consent for treatment!), health promotion and disease prevention taking into consideration patient factors (such as age, ethnic group, etc.), PMH, and other risk factors (e.g., socioeconomic, cultural background, etc.).Subjective: What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? PATIENT I went to the emergency department last week, because I was feeling like I was dying from a heart attack, and they did one of those, what do you call it? Ah, an EKG. And it was normal. But I was sweating and I was having trouble like catching my own breath. And my heart was pounding really, really hard. And I, and I just felt like my, my heart was just going to explode out of my chest. It almost felt like, um, like when your… I don’t know, when you’re in the woods. Uh, alone and, and you… you, feel like someone is, is following or, or chasing you. Or something like that. I, I just, I just my heart felt like it was about to leap out of my chest. I… And uh… I don’t know, probably twelve, fifteen minutes went by and, and the feeling just went away. It just passed. But then… the next day, it was the very same thing and I, for no reason at all. Just all of a sudden, I was making coffee and then WAM, that, that, that tightness in my chest came back and I was sweating and my heart was pounding, same exact feeling. Twelve, fifteen minutes, and then it just went it away. It was like… almost it was almost like my mother, I remember she would get the same thing, probably three to four times a week. It’s just sheer panic for no particular reason at all.

The Hate U Give

Society influences our personality traits and who we are. Using your Sociological Perspective, and the Symbolic Interactionism method (p.16) discuss how both your physical environment (URBS) and your mental environment (CIVITAS) have made you who you are today. Explain this cause/effect relationship, and give specific examples.

Think about the different places/cultures you have been exposed to over your lifetime, and which ones have the greatest influence on who you are today. Think about how your current neighborhood influences who you are in preparation for your final paper. We will discuss further in class.

My neighborhood is composed of a lot of teens/ adults who do nothing honest.
They smoke
They don’t like to work
They steal
They hurt
They are always there “day and nigh”
they know everyone, know me the girl in a hurry always, and always say good morning, good afternoon and good night
When death takes place no big deal because it was somehow expected and it is expected to happen to anyone living in that neighborhood.
The police are always walking around, inspecting without really doing anything meaningfull. I believe in God, and their behavior makes me fear, in the terms of not wanting their behavior to affect mine, making me lose interest in what I value as moral principle. Although studying them while staying away has only one purpose which is, protecting my spiritual health, nevertheless, it affects me in a way that i accurates to explain, but I can give details of the way it makes me behave, and think, and feel. Such, I struggle with social anxiety, Struggle to trust people I meet in any neighborhood I meet that looks like mine. I’m always scared, sometimes I get scared of everyone, and always forget to explain to my therapist because I don’t know how to explain that without looking like someone who is judgy when I’m just afraid of being the next victim of a community, my community in my neighborhood who will not like you doesn’t matter. Since they never hesitate to betray, take down their own friends for no reason. Then, they will be the first ones calling out the police for shooting a black person. Killing people is wrong, doesn’t matter the reason. But I don’t like so many in my community, the hypocrisy. I agree being black in America makes you unsafe, makes you the victim, but i were to draw a conclusion about my neighbor, it would be black people is its own enemy. Saying this makes me feel I’m betraying my community, but this is my observation from what I have noticed through the way, they pretend to have each other’s back as long as one isn’t progressing, trying to get out of a situation.

Femicide: Death, Gender, and Border – Representations of the Juárez femicides

Instructions:

Activist Version:
Read about Kamala Harris’ Gender-Based Violence Initiative before you write your letter.
Link: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/06/07/fact-sheet-vice-president-harris-announces-new-commitments-supporting-womens-economic-empowerment-in-latin-america/

Write a 10-page letter (2500 words) to Vice President Kamala Harris in response to the questions:
Of the different representations of the Juárez femicides, we studied this quarter, three books (Desert Blood: The Juarez Murders” by Alicia Gaspar de Alba, “The Daughters of Juarez: A True Story of Serial Murder South of the Border” by Teresa Rodriguez and Diane Montané, and “Terrorizing Women: Feminicide in the Americas” by Rosa-Linda Fregoso and Cynthia Bejarano) and three films (Bordertown by Gregory Nava, El Traspatio/The Backyard Film by Carlos Carrera, and Maquilapolis Documentary Film by Vicky Funari and Sergio De La Torre) do you think most accurately convey the 30-year herstory of these crimes, and tell the story of the femicides, as well as the struggle for social justice for the victims and their families?
How much did you know about this 30-year crime wave of brutally murdered Mexican, Central American, and indigenous women in Juárez?
What most shocked or surprised you in these materials?
What most stirred you to learn more or want to take action?
In your conclusion, advocate for what you think needs to be done to help put an end to the social apathy that continues to mire these crimes in silence north of the border. What First World resources and legislation are needed to stop the perpetrators and promote social justice for the poor, brown women of the U.S.-Mexico border?
In your letter, you should begin by saying something about yourself and the reason you’re writing to her: to persuade her to learn more about the Juárez femicides which have been going on since 1993 and have taken the lives of thousands of young Mexican women and girls, many of whom come to get low-paying jobs at factories owned by American companies that make American consumer goods. You can then go on to write up the assignment as described, but keep in mind that you are writing to a real person from a real person. In your conclusion, reiterate the impact that learning this information in our class has had on you and urge her to take action.

Reminder when writing the letter, think about why Kamala Harris needs to read or/and watch these films (raise awareness). You may also make a commentary on Biden’s recent visit to the border of Juarez (give your opinion if it was helpful or not).

Be sure to cite your sources correctly within the text and to provide a correctly formatted bibliography in MLA format.

I have included a word document with summaries and representations of the Juarez murders for the books and films. These summaries are from a blog page so please do not copy them. They can be used to help you with ideas on what to write.

I have also included a sample from a classmate of what she has written so far to give you an idea. She hasn’t answered the questions in the instructions but it is an idea of how she’s gotten started. At the very end, I have included short responses to the questions to get a personal feel for me.

I have attached the three PDFs for the books to use as well as other books and articles we used to reference and cite. NO OUTSIDE SOURCES OR REFERENCES. ONLY USE WHAT IS PRESENTED IN THE UPLOADS.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE REACH OUT. THANK YOU.
