Class,
In the past, I have had MANY questions about this assignment, and I have seen MANY errors with the successful competition of this assignment. Please read this announcement in full to ensure you understand what I want and know how to find the necessary materials.
“Here are the instructions, with my advice represented in the areas where the font has been made bold:
Over the past 5 weeks, you have learned about different elements related to critical thinking. You related the concepts to your personal experiences and evaluated your critical thinking skills. You have identified fallacies, evaluated arguments, and learned the role of these concepts in your daily life. Now it’s time to apply the concepts. In this assignment, you will review a real-world scenario and apply the critical thinking skills you have developed.
Review the Real-World Critical Thinking Scenario.
Write a 350- to 700-word reflection on the scenario, using the Reflection Template. Follow the instructions within the template to complete your reflection. You will need to include an introduction paragraph to introduce your reader to the topics you will be discussing; 3 body paragraphs, each with specific questions that need to be addressed within; and a conclusion paragraph to bring your paper to a close.
Note: The Reflection Template is already formatted appropriately, and you do not need to make any changes to the format. The questions to help you write the 3 paragraphs are contained in the template. Be sure to demonstrate your critical thinking abilities in your responses to the questions and ensure your paper flows well from topic to topic. Make sure you are completing this in MS Word, not Google Docs and saving as a MS Word Doc as it will most likely goof up your formatting.
Submit your assignment.”
Let me also add some basic writing advice I often see problems with this assignment:
Write exclusively in the third person, unless specifically told otherwise (I don’t want to see any “I’s,” “We’s,” “Us’s,” or “You’s.”)
Make sure your intros and conclusions are comprehensive, meaning make sure they both include a reference to the main theme (I expect to see both “Sally” and “critical thinking” mentioned) as well as the main topics that will be discussed (I expect to see the verbiage from each heading included.)
Make sure your intro ends with a strong thesis, or statement comprised of 1-2 sentences that encapsulate the paper. (If you are telling a friend what you are writing about in 1-2 sentences, that would be your thesis. Most instructors expect to see it as your last 1-2 sentences in the introduction.)
Use vocabulary from the course. (I want to see words like “barrier,” “fallacy,” specific barriers, specific fallacies, etc.)
Expect your reader to have no prior knowledge of the topic(s)

Conflict analysis assignment
One-hundred of your total points for this course will be based on your written assignment. The assignment must be written in APA Style (7th ed.) as this is the required style in the Communication Studies Department. These are the requirements for this assignment (and you can see the grading rubric on Canvas).
Select a specific conflict that interests you (e.g., gender, culture, bullies, families, relationships, work, social media, etc.).
Find a conflict in the news that relates to the type of conflict you have chosen. For example, the woman who last year accused a black teenager of stealing her iPhone in New York when she left it in an Uber (She went to trial on Monday, January 10, 2022 and was found guilty of a hate crime and is on probation): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ophFfLiHwjE . Make sure that the event you have chosen meets meet the definition of conflict presented in the lecture, “An expressed struggle . . . “ Identify how the conflict you have selected meets this definition. Write out specifically: “The expressed struggle is . . . the parties are interdependent because of . . . . the conflict is over scarce resources . . . ”
Discuss the dispute using appropriate references (at least five) so that the reader (me, your instructor) can understand the conflict you have referenced. Remember, your sources must be in proper APA Style format.
Explain what dispute resolution method would best resolve this conflict (e.g., mediation, arbitration, litigation, negotiation, etc.). Make sure you provide a clear rationale for this.
Conclude your paper with an explanation of what would be learned from this conflict using concepts from text and lectures. Your final grade will be largely determined by your ability to incorporate information from the text and lectures.
These papers must be no more than five and no less than four pages. You will need a title page and a reference page (these do not count in the total page numbers). Papers are to be double-spaced and the font should be no larger than twelve-point with no more than one-inch margins. A hard copy must be submitted in person at the beginning of class on March 20 @ 10:00 am; you must also submit a copy through Canvas by the same time. LATE PAPERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

• Body paragraphs that include evidential support.
• Providing a conclusion that does not simply restate the thesis, but readdresses it in light of the evidence provided.
• Transition smoothly
• Using correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar
• Use 12pt Times New Roman font
• Needs 3 paragraphs
Research Proposal- Do podcasts help people recover from ostracism?
Research Proposal Task Sheet
Assessment name: Research Proposal
Task description: You’ll take on the role of a researcher and after consulting the relevant literature, you’ll design an experiment that would test the following research question: Do podcasts help people recover from ostracism? Your proposal will include a detailed introduction, method, ethical considerations, and discussion sections. This is similar to the kinds of research proposals that researchers produce prior to conducting a study in order to have the project approved by a panel, ethics committee, or funding body. It requires that you situate the research in the context of the relevant literature, emphasise why it is important to do this study, generate specific hypotheses, make appropriate methodological choices to test the hypotheses in a way that upholds national ethical standards for human research, describe the expected findings and discuss what we will learn from them.
What you need to do: Your task for this assignment is to design an experiment that tests the following research question: Do podcasts help people recover from ostracism? You will need to read the starter references for additional information about the relevant theory and possible methods. Locate other relevant articles to better understand how the research question builds on existing research and how you could test it.
The experimental method requires that you manipulate the causal variables of interest (the independent variables) – in this case 1) ostracism and 2) podcast exposure. There are a variety of established ostracism manipulations to choose from (e.g., Cyberball, ostracism online, autobiographical recall). You’ll want to have two levels – e.g., ostracised or included. For the podcast exposure manipulation, you can come up with a novel manipulation or look to other studies using other types of media to see what they’ve done. You’ll want to have two levels
– e.g., podcast activity or control activity. For the dependent variable(s), let the ostracism literature guide you. Think about need restoration and affect.
When designing your experiment, make sure you follow the National Statement of Ethical Conduct in Human Research (https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/about-us/publications/national-statement- ethical-conduct-human-research-2007-updated-2018).
When writing your proposal, use the introduction to review relevant research and build a compelling rationale for conducting your experiment. State the general aim of your experiment and what you expect to find. Describe how you will conduct the experiment. Describe how you have considered the themes of risk/benefit and consent as they apply to your study and upheld the values. Please note that
published articles do not typically have a separate ethics section, but for educational purposes, you should include one in your proposal.
Discuss the expected findings and how they relate to the literature. Consider limitations and implications.

Reporting Guidelines
General
• Follow APA style, 7th edition. See https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar-guidelines for instructions on paper format, in-text citations, and references.
• Include the following sections: title page, abstract, introduction, method, ethics, discussion, and references.
• The following resources can also be used as a guide to APA style:
• Shakespeare-Finch, J. (2020). A Guide to Formatting in Psychology (3rd ed.). Pearson Education.
• American Psychological Association. (2020). Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.). Washington, DC: American Psychological Association.
• Use double spacing throughout the paper with no extra spaces between paragraphs, sections, or references. Everything should be written out in full sentences. There are no page breaks between the Introduction, Method, Ethics, and Discussion sections.
• Refrain from claims that are sexist, ageist, or otherwise discriminatory. If in doubt, check the APA manual for acceptable use of language.
• Please note that in your assignment, everything needs to be described in your own words. Do not copy anything word-for-word from this document or any other sources (e.g., articles, lecture/tutorial slides, or the National Statement). You need to demonstrate your own understanding and effective communication skills. This means you will need to develop your own arguments and insights, and paraphrase relevant details rather than copying from other sources. When describing the literature, aim to summarise and synthesise (in your own words), and cite the relevant sources.
• Use future tense when talking about your study. Imagine that this is a study will you run in the future. However, please do not attempt to conduct this study, as you do not have ethics approval for it.
• You can use “I” when referring to yourself as the researcher.
Title Page
• Create a title that summarises the main idea of the paper, including the topic of research, the key variables, and the relationship between them. It should be focused and succinct. Follow the APA student title page guidelines (https://apastyle.apa.org/style-grammar- guidelines/paper-format/sample-papers).
• Please do not use a cover page template that includes colour, large font, or other design elements that are not part of APA style.
• Include the word count (counting everything except the title page, reference list, and appendix; in-text citations count!).
Abstract
• This is a short summary of the project. For a proposal, it should include information about your objectives (problem under investigation, hypotheses), participants (number, pertinent characteristics), and method (design, IVs/SVs, DV, procedure). Also briefly summarise the ethics and discussion components of your proposal.
• Adopt the perspective of someone searching the literature and looking at abstracts to see whether an article is relevant to their needs. They want to know what you were looking at in your research, how you did your study, what you found, and what we can conclude from it.
Introduction
• Repeat the title of the paper for the heading in this section rather than using “Introduction”.
• Establish the importance of the topic and give the context (e.g., key issue, concepts)
• Review the relevant literature, describing relevant theories and findings. Focus on the key aspects that set the stage for your study. Highlight any issues and knowledge gaps that are relevant to building a rationale for conducting the current investigation.
• State the general aims of your study and how you will address them (briefly).
• State your specific hypotheses. It should be clear what you expect to find and why. You should generate your hypotheses based on a careful review of the literature.
• You can find examples of how to structure your introduction in the starter references. See how they set up the rationale for doing their study (or studies) and think about what works well. Think about the best way to set up the rationale for doing your study. Be sure the ideas flow clearly from one paragraph to the next and create a smooth transition from past research to the current investigation. Explain how your study will build upon past research and contribute something new.
Method
• This section should provide enough detail about the participants, measures, design, manipulations, and procedure that another researcher could run an equivalent study elsewhere.
• Participants: How many participants will be recruited? From where? What are their relevant characteristics? What is your rationale for focusing on this these kinds of participants? Will they be offered any incentives for participating?
• Measures: Describe how you will measure the dependent variable, giving as much detail as possible. For self-report measures, describe the item(s) and specify the number of items, response scale, and what higher scores indicate. Provide any relevant citations and details that establish them as a reliable and valid measures.
• Design: Specify the IVs and how participants will be placed into conditions/groups (e.g., random assignment to experimental conditions). Specify the type of research design
• Between-subjects (each participant is assigned to one condition) or within- subjects (each participant is in every condition) design? In ostracism research, between-subjects designs are typically used.
• Since you will have more than one IV, write out the levels for each IV with an x in between. E.g., a 2 x 2 design has two IVs, each with 2 levels.
• Experimental Manipulations: Describe the content of the manipulations. For written manipulations, you can present them verbatim in the text (if short) or Appendix (if long). If using an Appendix, still summarise the essential details in the text. Describe how the manipulations were administered.
• Procedure: Describe the details of how the study was carried out from beginning to end: where the study takes place, instructions (including cover story, if used), order of tasks, any other relevant details of the study that have not yet been mentioned.
• You can use sub-headings in the method section. You’ll see there is variability in published papers in terms of the exact subheadings used, but some common ones are: Participants, Materials, Design, Procedure.
• Try not to repeat the same details in different sections. For example, if you’ve given the full details of a questionnaire in the measures section, you don’t need to repeat everything in the procedure section, just mention when participants complete the questionnaire in the context of the full study.
Ethics
• Published articles do not typically have a separate ethics section, but for educational purposes, you should include one in your proposal.
• Prior to conducting any new research involving human participants, a careful analysis of ethical issues needs to take place. As discussed in tutorial, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research provides guidelines for researchers:
https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/about-us/publications/national-statement-ethical-conduct- human-research-2007-updated-2018.
• Describe how you have considered the themes of risk/benefit and consent specific to your study, and how you will uphold the values. You can include details about consent and debriefing in this section rather than in the method section to keep all ethical considerations in one place.
Discussion
• This section should begin with a summary of expected findings relevant to each hypothesis.
• Now return to the broader context of the prior literature to interpret your findings. How do your findings add to what we already knew?
• Consider the limitations of your study in terms of how it was conducted. Were there any issues with the way you manipulated the IVs or measured the DVs that need to be kept in mind when interpreting the results? Are there aspects of the study or participants that might limit the extent to which these findings to generalise to other people or contexts? How might future studies address the limitations of your study?
• What are the implications of these findings for the relevant theories? What are the practical implications in terms of daily life? Does your study raise any interesting questions that future research could address?
References
• There is no set number of references, but you should certainly aim to read broadly and incorporate additional references beyond the starter references. Use previous research and theories to justify the argument you are building in your proposal for conducting your study. If you are making points about theories or findings without references, try to find them. You will probably read more papers than you cite. Only cite papers if they are relevant.
• Please do not use the textbook or lecture notes as a reference. The materials covered in these should be sourced from primary sources (e.g., journal articles, chapters from edited books). Look up the references they refer to.
• Don’t trust pre-formatted references, they are often wrong! Check the APA guidelines when formatting your references:
• quick reference guides
• https://apastyle.apa.org/instructional-aids/reference-guide.pdf
• https://apastyle.apa.org/instructional-aids/reference-examples.pdf

For this assignment, we are going to run the DISA STIG against our own operating system
1st question – 1 page:
Please review the following resources before beginning this assignment:
DISA STIG Repository
Using the DoD STIG and SCAP Tool Basic Rundown
For this assignment, we are going to run the DISA STIG against our own operating system. You do not necessarily have to make the changes if you do not desire to. But you must notate the answers to the checks.
If the operating system on your computer is Windows 10, please download the latest Windows 10 STIG. If you use macOS, download the latest macOS STIG, and for Linux, download the closest Linux STIG (if you use Ubuntu, use the ubuntu STIG, etc…).
You must also download the latest STIG viewer available as well.
It is recommended that you download the latest SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC) as well, and the applicable SCAP 1.2 or 1.3 content for your operating system (if one exists).
For this lab, you will conduct the following:
Using the SCAP Content Checker, run a scan with only the operating system benchmark chosen (if one exists). This will export an XCCDF file.
Open DISA STIG Viewer and then create a Checklist using the zip file for your operating system that you downloaded.
If you were able to run SCC on your device, import the XCCDF into the STIG Viewer and you’ll see a large variety of STIGs are already completed.
For any Not Reviewed checks, complete them.
For any Open checks, provide an explanation in the comments on what this finding means for your security.
For any Not a Finding checks, nothing is needed.
At the end of this, if SCC was not used, you must have at least 50 items that are in the status of either Open, Not a Finding, or Not Reviewed.
If SCC was used, there should be no Not Reviewed checks. All checks should be Open, Not a Finding, or Not Applicable.
If there are not 50 items, this assignment will be marked as Not complete.
For the submission, you must save the checklist file as a .ckl file and submit the ckl file itself. Please review the following resources before beginning this assignment:

Another question – 2 pages
For this assignment, submit a document that discusses what you have completed towards your OS Improvement Plan up to this point. This should be a high-level overview that explains what controls you have developed a recommendation for so far, and how many. You are not expected to have 100% completion of all CIS 18 controls at this time. 50% of controls in IG1 is a good mark to hit at this point.
Your submission must include the following:
A summary of all identified deficiencies according to the CIS 18 IG1.
A high-level overview of controls answered. For example:
Control 1: 50%
Control 2: 66%
Control 3: 32%
And so on
Please provide recommendations which controls helps or assists Raven Corp with getting to a better security posture and maturity level. You must download the control spreadsheet and change/recommend changes in spreadsheet to see how controls and implementing policy impact the overall dashboard. This will be an iterative process.
If you want, you can and your professor can provide initial guidance on the recommendations that you have at this point.
_______________
Question 3 – 3 slides
Privileged Account Management (PAM) is an essential topic in OS security. If an attacker gains access to your privileged accounts, then it is game over. They will have unrestricted access to your OS in almost every scenario. This is why properly managing your privileged accounts is so important.
The CISO has come to you again to help plan their PAM solutions. Throughout this PowerPoint, make sure you are targeting Raven Corporation’s infrastructure.
For this PowerPoint, please discuss the following topics:
What is Privileged Account Management? Why is it important?
What kinds of accounts can be considered privileged on a Windows box? What about on a Linux box?
Identify three different enterprise tools for PAM. Identify how they differ from each other. In your opinion, which one is the best of these three options?
How do managing local privileged accounts differ from managing the privileged accounts that are found in Active Directory?
PowerPoint Requirements
Minimum Slides: No minimum. Do what you think is right.
Must use proper grammar/spelling/APA formatting.
No crazy templates
You must record yourself presenting the presentation. It does not need to include a video of yourself, but it does need to include an audio recording.
Lateral violence, horizontal violence , incivility in nursing, disruptive behavior
Develop a paper topic related to lateral violence, horizontal violence, incivility in nursing, disruptive behavior (this terminology is relatively synonymous with one another). The topic is commonplace in the literature, widely debated as to its extent, causation, and efforts to deal with it. Submit a paper proposal using the guidelines below:
Read the lateral violence paper rubric above and familiarize yourself with the expectations of the paper and the components that you will be grade on.
Identify a lateral violence issue that influences health care delivery. It can be an issue that you are currently experiencing at work, or it can be an issue that you have discussed in class or heard about in the media.
Describe the significance of the issue to you. Why is the issue meaningful to you? Why are you interested in resolving the issue? Why does this issue need to be faced by nursing professionals?
Your paper proposal is to be one (1) page typed, double spaced, 12 point font, in Times New Roman and APA format. Organization of thoughts, sentence structure, grammar, and spelling are all important in this assignment. It does need an appropriate title page.
Do NOT use a Running Head for this proposal, your paper draft or final paper. You must still have a Title Page for all three of these assignments, in appropriate APA formatting, but do not include a Running Head.
Assistive Technology Paper
You will write a research paper that describes characteristics of a chosen disability, and strategies for working with an individual with that disability. The Assistive Technology textbook will be read independently throughout the course and used as the primary source for completing the paper.
You must incorporate one (1) Assistive Technology (AT) device, inclusive of how the device works, and how it is used with students with the identified disability. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the AT and how it is used in a variety of settings.
Write your paper in APA format. You must use at least three peer-reviewed journal references.
The paper will follow APA Style, 7th Ed, double-spaced (12-point font)
1) Introduction (3/4 page to 1 page that explains a particular disability)
2) Overview of AT, uses and feasibility in terms of use (cost, motor, complexity, transition, post EC-12) including strengths and weaknesses-(2-3 pages)
3) Conclusion (1/2 page to 3/4 page)
4) References (this is the last page that includes citations- not included in the page count) References can be your e textbooks and at least 3 peer-reviewed scholarly journal article. Make an effort to find an article about the implementation of the Assistive Technology, i.e., how to teach using the AT.
¾ page to 1 full page
Introduction to particular disability
Why does this population of students need AT?
What greater access will they have to their environment with the AT?
How will they benefit in all stages of life?
2 – 3 pages
