Reflection of Organizational Leadership 324 – Resources Project Management

Final Paper:
For this final paper, I would like you to think back on what you have read, learned, written about, and reflected on in this class from the first module onward and write a two-part paper that synthesizes and applies the class content. Look back at all six modules before starting this paper in order to incorporate specific examples (from the course) to illustrate your points.

Part One: Reflection (500-word minimum)
This is an opportunity to reflect on what you feel are the principles and practices of effectively managing project resources, your growing knowledge of this area of project management, and how you plan to gain additional experience. Questions to consider in this fluid essay (please—NO bullet-point answers.)

• What have you learned about yourself through this class in general and project resource management in particular?
• What areas of project resource management do you feel you excel (or at the very least have a strong understanding)?
• Where has your biggest growth in knowledge and/or skill occurred over the last six weeks? What areas do you feel you still have much more to learn?
• What course of action might you take moving forward to ensure that you gain additional experience in project resource management?

Part Two: Application (500-word minimum)
For this section, you will need to identify a challenge encountered in projects (in relation to resources) that you would like to explore. This may be a project you have been involved in (coursework, professional, home project) or a real-world project you choose to use as an example. Questions to consider in this fluid essay (please—NO bullet-point answers.)

the Proposal

This paper is truly a real world paper. I would like the problem you are seeking to solve (or make better) to be a real one that grows from your real world. Find a problem that you would really like to solve. It can come from the town you live in, from the block you live on, from your county or from where you work. It can come from your church or from an organization you are a member of. Now, key to the problem is that it should be one that not only you experience and recognize, but one others see too. This marks whether it is significant enough to be worthy of addressing. Also, this paper is written directly to those who can make the changes we are suggesting — your boss, your mayor, town hall, City Council, the governor, your minister (etc.). Therefore, diplomacy is paramount. We have to urge them to 1) see the problem as serious enough to warrant solving, 2) to accept you ideas and change.
To make an audience who does not want to change to change, we must offer them carrots — encouragement to act from their own goodness; and offer the sticks — show them the consequences if nothing is done. Carrots and sticks are your tools.
Also, you need a good plan.
There are various types of proposals:
1) one-to-two-to-three piston proposals (here a series of necessary steps are presented that will move to solve the problem)
2) buffet style (here a series of potential options are presented)
3) Tiered approaches (i.e., offering many options, of which only one is viable)
4) Piggy back plans (i.e., building upon pre-existing systems)
5) Employs carrots (incentives to act — e.g., good things will happen if we adopt the plan) and sticks (disincentives — e.g., things will get worse if we do not enact the plan)
A. Before performing below tasks, get your proposal problem cleared in an email with me.
What will be the problem you will use for your proposal? Who will be your audience?
How will you demonstrate that it is serious enough to warrant solving?

Topic Information Your organization is considering the immediate implementation of a total rewards program in an effort to recruit top talent and improve employee performance and motivation. Before making a selection on what to include in this program, your team would like to learn about some of the most effective total reward program elements being used today. As a human resources professional, you have been asked to construct a research report that is 7-10 pages in length and includes: Total Rewards Programs that include compensation and benefits work-life balance and wellness performance and service recognition career development opportunities Recommend a total reward program that includes all of the components above and explain the reason for your recommendation. Discuss an area within total rewards programs that you did not see much of during your research, but feel it would be beneficial for more organizations to implement. Explain. Specfic Insructions Include an introduction. It must provide a clear statement of your position on the topic. Your paper must be at 7-10 pages in length, not counting the title and reference pages, which you must include. Examine each area of the consultancy report by providing citations from at least five sources (at least three are scholarly/peer reviewed). The CSU Global Library (Links to an external site.) is a great place to find sources. A credible source is defined as: A scholarly or peer reviewed journal article A government-based website or publication A trade or industry journal article, publication, or website, including those from trade organizations such as SHRM.org and TD.org. The paper shall comply with the requirements defined within the CSU Global APA Guidelines (Links to an external site.) . Refer to the Portfolio Project rubric for grading criteria. Your paper is expected to have depth and offer a thoughtful analysis. It should be based on references to scholarly materials (rather than on introductory textbooks, popular website writings, or musings, for example) and should support your claims with evidence. The most common mistakes in writing an essay are, a) simply summarizing the topic and not analyzing it or discussing your views, and b) failing to relate the subject to the broader context as discussed in class and as found in the readings. The paper and preliminary deliverables must be well written and formatted in conformity with the CSU Global Writing Center (Links to an external site.).
