What are food purchasing and food use habits that you could adopt to help promote food sustainability?

Purpose
This exercise is to help you further process certain topics that we’ve covered thus far.
Initial Post
The movement towards ‘Sustainable Agriculture’ is growing because the current fossil fuel-based system of food production, processing, and distribution eventually will collapse. Simultaneously, the massive amounts of food waste in Western cultures is becoming more evident, with organizations and movements working to help prevent food waste.
For your Journal posting, please consider your relationship with food.
What are food purchasing and food use habits that you could adopt to help promote food sustainability?
Please clearly state at least one way you currently live a more ‘food sustainable life’, AND clearly state one way you could change your current food practices so you could become more ‘food sustainable’.
What could you do to waste less food?
Clearly state, with at least one example, a habit you could adopt that would result in a significant reduction in a way you currently might be wasting food.
Your posting should be at least 350 words (but more is welcome). Future Journals will be longer.

LEADERSHIP COMMUNICATION

As with all of the assignments for this class, first make sure to thoroughly review the required background materials. Make sure you fully understand the concepts of the Johari Window as well as Transactional Analysis. You need to have a solid understanding of these important concepts in order to successfully complete this assignment.

We will once again be applying the concepts from this module to your own experiences as a way of finding potential ways to develop your leadership skills. For this assignment, choose a current or former supervisor or subordinate and think carefully about how the concepts from the Johari Window and Transactional Analysis applies to this current or previous supervisor/subordinate relationship. Think carefully about the flow of information and communication between the two of you, and also times when either of you behaved as “adults,” “parents,” or “children” in your dealings with each other. Don’t worry, this assignment will be purely between you and your instructor so feel free to be as honest and self-reflective as you can.

More specifically, write a 4- to 5-page paper answering the following questions below. Make sure to cite at least one of the required readings in each answer, and to cite at least three sources total from the background readings in your paper:

Using a Johari Window analysis, what do you think some of your supervisor’s or subordinate’s blind spots are? What do you think some of your potential blind spots might be?
Also using a Johari Window analysis, what kind of hidden spots did you keep between you and your supervisor or subordinate? Did you suspect your supervisor or subordinate of having hidden spots?
Based on your answers to Questions 1 and 2 above as well as the required readings, how might Johari Window analysis be used to improve this supervisor/subordinate relationship that you wrote about in the above two answers?
Using Transactional Analysis, give some specific examples of when you and your supervisor or subordinate acted like “parents,” “children,” or “adults.” And be honest—we all act like “children” sometimes in the workplace.
Based on your answer to Question 4 and the required readings, how do you think this supervisor/subordinate relationship might have been improved using Transactional Analysis? As with all of the assignments for this class, first make sure to thoroughly review the required background materials. Determine the identity status of the adolescents portrayed in the following examples.

Determine the identity status of the adolescents portrayed in the following examples.
Explain your responses.

Use the attached slides to help identify

Example 1: Kenny is about to graduate from high school—barely. His grades are borderline; he has few friends, no real interests, and spends most of his time after school staying in his room listening to music. He seems to have no interest in making plans for the future or even finding a job to support himself after high school.

Example 2: Sue seems to change her mind every few weeks about almost everything. She cannot seem to settle on what she wants to do after high school. At times, she says she wants to go to college, but other times, she says she wants to see the world. One minute she wants to be a doctor, the next she wants to be a writer. She is also continually changing her appearance: One month, she was preppy; the next, she dyed her hair and bought a new wardrobe. Her parents are not too concerned: they support her ideas about the future and know she will eventually find her path.

Example 3: Josh has just started college this semester and is positive he wants to go to medical school. He has never considered any other career for himself. His father is a doctor, as was his grandfather. For as long as he can remember, all he has ever wanted to do is follow in his father’s footsteps and become a doctor as well. He is sure it is his calling.

Example 4: Cindy has just graduated from college with a B.A. in psychology. It took her almost six years to get her degree because she changed her major so many times. First, she was an English major, then it was art, and next business. Finally, she took a general psychology class and was hooked. Later, she got a part-time job at a mental health facility and knew this was the field for her. Now she is going to graduate school to earn her Ph.D. in psychology. From her experience working at the mental health facility, she knows she wants to be a psychologist who works with troubled children.

Your submission should be 2-3 double spaced pages with one-inch margins using Times New Roman 12-point font.

Discussion Post – HR Management

Three parts: 1. Main Discussion Post 2. Reponse to peer discussion 3. Response to peer discussion.

Part I: Intstructions:
There are many environmental factors influencing the workplace today, including generational differences and concerns, the economy, globalization, artificial intelligence, multicultural differences, and more.
In this week’s discussion:
Identify two environmental issues that impact human resources’ ability to properly staff an organization and/or forecast future employment needs.
Being innovative and creative, how would you propose addressing and overcoming the environmental issues identified, above for your organization?
Include two sources, APA 7th

Part 2: Response
Workforce demographics can be a major factor in staffing. As one generation retires, the human resource department must be able to attract and retain a new generation of staff. With generational differences, the human resource team must be able to adapt to the changing generational differences. The HR department may need to hire in new ways, for example hiring online or on new platforms. They may also need to revise their benefits or compensation packages to remain competitive in comparison to what other companies have started to offer. Another external element that has a great affect of the HR department’s effectiveness is legislation. New laws or even adjustments can “change licensing or credentialing requirements that make recruiting tougher and temporary assignments obligatory, or require you to grant affected employees leave for testing or study” (Brunot, 2019, p.1). Legislation can also affect the process of hiring in aspects such as background checks and onboarding programs.
I think I would prioritize maintaining a strong and effective HR team. I would also offer incentives for the department to keep up with trainings, laws, and educational opportunities. I think the HR team should have clear expectations/roles/responsibilities so they are aware of who is in charge of keeping up with certain elements of the company. This way the HR team is up to date and able to make informed and effective decisions in terms of hiring. By encouraging education, HR professionals can not only deal with external factors, but be proactive and hopefully ahead of competitors. According to Williams (2020), HR professionals can be proactive in addressing external factors by aligning business strategies with external factors. HR professional can even ensure more success by ensuring their talent strategy also aligns with the company’s overall strategic plan (Williams, 2020).

Part 3: Response #2
The environment where a company operates impacts its strategy and operations. One of the two environmental factors that impact an organization’s HR ability to properly staff itself and/or forecast future employment needs are labor market and government legislations. In terms of the labor market, the fierce demand for qualified talent in specific areas forces HR to have a strong workforce planning process as well as a unique value proposition to prospective employees. It necessitates organizations’ HR teams to have an effective performance management system that is able to attract, onboard, develop, and retain qualified employees. A creative way for organizations to avoid a negative impact is to embed the context of labor market in each step of their workforce planning process. This way they obtain relevant and timely intelligence on labor market trends, availability of needed or alternative talents, etc. (Aguinis, 2019; London Premier Center, 2023; Maurer, 2017).
In terms of government legislations, organizations are greatly impacted by the types of legislations passed at the federal and/or state levels. They need to quickly adopt and comply with the requirements to ensure their employees well-being and safety. They also need to ensure that they are protected from liability, including extensive fines. HR-related legislations normally impact organizations’ hiring, compensation, training, and termination processes. Therefore, it is important for HR to ensure that these legislations are included in employees’ handbook and communicated across the organizations. It is also important to hire well versed HR staff, have trainings that help employees gain good understanding of the various legislations, and provide resources to employees and managers that are available in government legislation websites (Friedman, 2019; Indeed, 2023). Overall, it is important for HR to continually scan the environmental factors that may affect the execution of a business strategy.
