Mythology

Essay One: Thinking Critically About World Mythology
Due Date: Sunday, June 13th, by 11:59pm (submit via Brightspace) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CukqpBqC780
Length: Minimum of 2 complete pages, double spaced
Format: MLA, Times New Roman 12-point font, Works Cited Page
Sources: The Introduction to Stranger Magic (Professor Marina Warner’s book about The 1001 Nights); the World Literature textbook linked in the content folder and/or the pdf titled “The Porter and the Three Ladies.”
Instructions:
Develop a thesis and write a short, organized essay in formal, academic writing, which responds the the following prompt:
Based on your reading from The 1001 Nights, what might be some significant differences between folk tales and myths? Support your reasoning with some details from a specific myth from your reading this semester and a specific tale from The 1001 Nights.
(As you think about this question, you might consider the four functions of mythology you learned about in Week One of the course. Myths and folk tales are closely related. Both types of story tend to be very old, are typically passed down orally, rather than in writing, and often contain simple characters and magical or wondrous plot events. So how might we distinguish between the two.)
Your thesis statement should state explicitly what is the main idea you will be exploring in the short essay. You should quote from the relevant texts, but quoted text should not exceed 20% of the total. Where possible, try to focus on individual words or phrases, explaining their significance in terms of your overall ideas. Your conclusion should briefly summarize all the major ideas of your essay.

Business Marketing

When pharmaceutical companies market to customers they must take the time to consider who influences the customers decision making. There are many social influences as well as psychological variables that dictate a patients course of action for an illness. Some patients may choose not to get treatment, other patients may ask their doctor for a particular brand name drug because someone they know had success when taking it.
Assuming the perspective of the patient, write about the social and psychological variables that will influence a patient when deciding on a treatment/medication. You need to identify a minimum of 5 social and psychological variables that would influence a patient. After you have identified the different variables / influencers, discuss who you think pharmaceutical companies should market to.
On your cover page, include your name, and date. The final product will be a paper that is 2 pages double-spaced, with 2-3 references, APA formatted.
