Nursing Organizational Analysis – Your Experience

Overview: Organizational Analysis – Your Experience
The major assignment for this course is analysis of your organization. During the span of this course, you have been shadowing a nurse leader, observing and reflecting on skills, behaviors, and strategies that the leader exhibits. You have also been assessing and reflecting on your own leadership and management styles and skills. Now you will gather those thoughts in a more formal retrospective of your experience in the course. You may notice that the rubric for the previous assignment is similar to the rubric for this assignment. Keep in mind that the previous assignment you were presenting an analysis of the leader/manager that you shadowed and with this assignment you are presenting an analysis of the overall experience (which does include the time spent with your leader/manager).

In deciding the allocation of assets, what issues should the partnership consider to minimize each partner’s taxable gains?

Vincent is a 50% partner in the TAV Partnership. He became a partner three years ago when he contributed land with a value of $60,000 and a basis of $30,000 (current value is $100,000). Tyler and Anita each contributed $30,000 cash for a 25% interest. Vincent’s basis in his partnership interest is currently $135,000; the other partners’ bases are each $82,500. The partnership holds the following assets.
Basis FMV
Cash $200,000 $200,000
Accounts receivable -0- 200,000
Marketable Securities 70,000 100,000
Land 30,000 100,000
Total $300,000 $600,000
a. In general terms (i.e., no calculations are required), describe the tax results to the partners and the partnership in each of the following independent scenarios where the partnership distributes the assets indicated in a current nonliquidating distribution at the end of its tax year. Hint: You should first determine whether the distributions are proportionate.
1. TAV distributes a $50,000 (FMV) plot of land each to Tyler and Anita and $100,000 of accounts receivable to Vincent.
2. TAV distributes $100,000 of cash to Vincent, $50,000 (FMV) of marketable securities to Tyler, and $50,000 (FMV) of accounts receivable to Anita.
3. TAV distributes a $50,000 (FMV) interest in the land and $50,000 (FMV) of accounts receivable to Vincent and $25,000 of cash and $25,000 (FMV) of accounts receivable each to Anita and Tyler.
b. Now consider what would happen if the partnership distributed all of its assets in a liquidating distribution. In deciding the allocation of assets, what issues should the partnership consider to minimize each partner’s taxable gains?

You are assigned to care for Mr. Andrasziuk, 85, who has Alzheimer’s disease. He often wanders from room to room and tries to open the outside doors. He frequently becomes agitated and restless, especially in the evening. Most of the time, Mr. Andrasziuk is unable to feed himself and is often incontinent. He keeps repeating, “Help me, help me,” all day long.
How do you feel about caring for a person like this? Frightened? Angry? Impatient?
How do you deal with your feelings so that you can give care to the person?
At what stage of Alzheimer’s disease is Mr. Andrasziuk? What signs and symptoms support your answer?
Why would it be ineffective to remind Mr. Andrasziuk of the date and time during your shift?
Why is reminding the person of the date and time a good technique with some people who are confused and not with others?
Why does Mr. Andrasziuk become more agitated toward evening? What is this called?
What methods could you use to make sure Mr. Andrasziuk receives the care needed to maintain good personal hygiene? How could you get him to cooperate or participate in his care?

Interdisciplinarity and Worldview Reflection Assignment

INDS 400
INTERDISCIPLINARITY AND WORLDVIEW REFLECTION ASSIGNMENT
INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
Reflections are opportunities for you to reflect on course material to better understand the
material and yourself. This reflection, in two halves, covers interdisciplinarity as a worldview
modifier and your reading of Covey.
INSTRUCTIONS
In a paragraph of no more than 200 words, please explain what “interdisciplinarity” is. Do not
just quote another source: explain interdisciplinarity in your own words. It would be good to
begin with a definition, but don’t stop there. Make it your own.
In a second paragraph of no more than 200 words, please explain what a worldview is and how
an interdisciplinary perspective impacts a/your Christian worldview. For example, how do you
look at the world differently in light of interdisciplinary ideas? Does it affect how you see God’s
creation or how you see how He works through you?
In a third paragraph of no more than 200 words, please reflect on and explain the personal impact
of the single most helpful lesson you learned from Covey this sub-term.
Requirements:
1. You may use first person, but not second person.
2. Use unique headings to clearly separate your answers.
3. Your grammar, spelling, and punctuation should be flawless. Visit the Liberty University
writing centers if you want extra help. Use APA formatting, but no abstract page is
required.
Additional Suggestions:
1. You can do it differently, but the simplest route may be to explain interdisciplinarity in
one paragraph and then to reflect on it in the next paragraph or two.
2. You can explain interdisciplinarity in your own words, but if you find it hard to describe
it in a way not already done, it would be better to cite references and create a references
page than to accidentally plagiarize.
3. Remember to focus on just one narrowed topic from Covey and to give it personal
application. Don’t pick an entire chapter or habit but rather pick one of the principles
discussed in one of the chapters.
4. You can begin brainstorming for your reflection using the following questions (though
you shouldn’t use these exact wordings in your reflection itself—be original):
A. How has interdisciplinarity affected my life?
B. How has interdisciplinarity affected the way I see the world?
C. How will I use an interdisciplinary mindset to tackle problems in the future?
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

Making Sense of Our Poets- (Semester Draft Only–no Professor Draft)

Compare and contrast in detail at least two authors’ works from Weeks 1 through 7. For a third author, if you would like to compare and contrast a third author to the other two, you can use another author for those weeks just mentioned. (You can analyze a work by our authors not in our modules, but only if you attach that work as an appendix, to the end of your essay.)
In your conclusion, make a generalization (See Generalizations page in Week 6 Module),
For that generalization, say, “One thing we can say is true about both authors’ works is . . .” and say what that one thing is.
Four pages (at least), double-spaced, MLA FORMAT.
Use all the material you collected for Scrapbook #1 and #2 to help you. You might use Crystal’s Study Guides and Crystal’s Scrapbook examples to help you. Be sure to use specific authors we have studied, and use details, maybe even quotes, from the poems, stories and essays you have read in order to back up what you are saying, That detail is the key to success for this essay.
Use the most perfect content, grammar, spelling and MLA format you can do. Your essay will be judged on all of that, holistically, in other words, how does your essay come across overall?

“Blindsight” as the topic for behaivoral and /or mental phenomenon and “brain trauma” as the topic for the biologicial strategy that is investigated to understand it.

The class project for this course is a written report that addresses the biological study of a specific behavioral or mental phenomenon (normal or pathological) covered in the readings and videos. Please begin by selecting a behavioral or mental phenomenon that interests you, such as language or schizophrenia, and then select a biological strategy for investigating it, such as hormonal or genetic mechanisms, neurotransmitters, drug treatments, or localization of brain processes by imaging. The project will be worth a maximum of 100 points.

Please note that the final exam and final paper together comprise more than 50% of your final grade in this class! It is important to devote an appropriate amount of planning, time, and energy to prepare for these due dates!

PAPER TOPIC PROPOSAL (5 POINTS)

To ensure that your topic meets the above requirements before you begin your work, you will submit your proposed paper topic for approval by the end of Week 2. Please see the Paper Topic assignment in Week 2 for some hints and guidelines on how to construct your topic. You should NOT begin working on your paper until your topic has been approved!

WRITTEN FINAL PAPER (100 POINTS)

Your paper should summarize fundamental issues, questions, and controversies and provide a general overview of your chosen psychological construct focusing on the biological line of investigation you chose. To accomplish this, you will need to use research articles (at least 2 of which should have been published within the last 5 years) to illustrate relevant points. You may use any of a number of electronic databases to find research articles that deal with your topic, including the library and the Internet. Additionally, at least two of your sources must have appeared in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. If you’re not sure, you may wish to consult with me or the library staff to confirm whether a particular journal is peer-reviewed. There is no minimum requirement for the total number of sources used, but a good guideline for a paper of this type would be at least 5 sources. Your paper should be submitted via the assignment folder by the end of Week 7.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR PAPER WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SUBMITTED THROUGH TurnItIn TO CHECK FOR SIMILARITY TO KNOWN SOURCES.
While there is no set requirement for similarity scores, you should shoot for a score of less than 40%, as scores above this limit will prompt me to follow up with you to ensure that you have not plagiarized your sources (even inadvertently).
You may revise/submit to the assignment folder multiple times in an effort to improve your similarity score. I will only review/evaluate your last submission.
Other important guidelines for your paper:

In most cases, websites are not acceptable sources. There are a few exceptions, but any website references must be specifically approved by Dr. Wetzell in advance. If you feel that a website source might be such an exception, please email me and we will decide together if it’s truly appropriate. Newspaper or magazine articles are NOT peer-reviewed sources but, along with websites, they can be useful in leading you to the peer-reviewed research article that was their source.
You should avoid simply repeating your sources in summary form, but rather use them within the text of your paper to illustrate important points using your own words.
The main text of your paper should be at least 1,600 words (or about 6 to 8 pages) in length, excluding title page, abstract, and references sections. Please use the word count function of your word processor as a guide. You will not be penalized for going over the word/page count, but please try to avoid lengths of greater than 10 or 11 pages.
The paper must be typed, double-spaced with one-inch margins and 12-point font, and fully formatted/referenced in APA format (see the UMGC Library’s guide to APA formatting or http://www.apa.org for further information). Since this is a literature review assignment, you should treat your paper as if it were only the “Introduction” section of an APA-formatted paper.
Per APA format guidelines, the main text of your paper should be preceded by an abstract (about 100 words) that summarizes the key points in the paper.
You are highly encouraged to submit a draft of your complete or near complete paper to the Effective Writing Center (EWC at http://www.umgc.edu/writingcenter/writingresources/faq.cfm ) for review and comment, prior to the due date of the paper. This should be submitted well in advance of the due date, in order for the EWC to respond and for you to make the necessary corrections. Once you receive feedback from the EWC, you can copy and paste it into a Word Document, then post it in your assignment folder with your project paper by the due date, for your instructor to view as necessary. The EWC can help address questions regarding format, structure, writing style, and appropriateness of references. Traditionally, the students who take advantage of this valuable resource earn the highest grades on this assignment!

Nursing Professional Development Plan

PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT FOR RUBRIC AND FULL ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

Overview: Professional Development Plan
This course aims to help you utilize quality improvement processes and management tools to improve client care outcomes, partly by improving the nurse’s working environment as you make and implement good decisions. Now you will apply those processes and tools to yourself by creating a professional development plan.
Look back at your Professional Development Inventory and Leadership Self-Assessment from module one. Use these tools as you develop your own professional development plan for both short term and long term success. You will develop your own personal nursing philosophy, using previously developed philosophies (cite sources). You will then set short term and long term goals keeping in mind intrinsic and extrinsic forces that may aid or hinder your progress.

Assignment CLINICAL ASPECTS OF CRISIS MANAGEMENT
Overview
In Week 1, you were charged with creating an example case study using your family and the Biopsychosocial Assessment Form from the Case Study Treatment Plan media. Now, imagine that your family is experiencing a crisis situation. You might be a Red Cross volunteer during a natural disaster working with your family; a community-based clinician responding to school violence or other tragedy involving or affecting one of your family members, such as a student or teacher death; or a practicing clinician in whose therapy session a family member reports being suicidal.
Note: Throughout the course, you will be reflecting on your own family of origin to help you explore your own self-of-the-therapist. In this assignment, you will not be required to reveal anything about your life, your family, your relationships, or any events that you are not comfortable sharing. If there are any requirements that ask you to submit anything you are not comfortable sharing, please feel free to fictionalize any elements and note that you have done so. For example, if there is an event that you would like to “make-up,” feel free to note this by simply writing (Fiction) in your paper or post (that is, “(Fiction) My mother was extremely sad during this period and became suicidal.”). If you have any questions about this, please reach out to your instructor for direction.
Part 1
Write a 3–4 page paper in which you complete the following:
Introduce your family (aspects you are willing to share) and, pretending you are treating this family, the context for your involvement with the family. Discuss how you would respond as a clinician when working with this family. Be sure to include the following:
Describe methods for developing rapport with clients in crisis.
What are some differences you may notice when working with clients in crisis versus those not experiencing a crisis?
Describe the steps to take when working with a client who presents in a crisis state.
Describe safety plans or next-step interventions that might be developed with the client family.
Discuss ethical as well as your state’s legal implications for the client family resulting from the crisis.
Describe best practices aligned with state and national standards for the MFT discipline that apply to working with families in crisis.
Discuss how personal experiences affect work with clients in crisis with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
As you continue to examine the process of therapy through the lens of the self-of-the-therapist and multicultural diversity, include ways in which your own family experiences and various dimensions of your culture, such as religion, gender, or ethnicity, inform your reactions to this particular issue.
Part 2
Using the Case Study Treatment Plan media, complete a family member crisis assessment based on your family, including any systemic perspectives that may affect how the family is treated. (Note: The Risk Assessment tab in the media has the Family Member Crisis Assessment activity).
Additional Requirements
Your assignment should also meet the following requirements:
Written communication: Written communication should be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
References: Support your ideas with references from peer-reviewed journals. You may use your course texts as supplementary references.
APA formatting: Use the Evidence and APA section of the Writing Center for information on how to format resources and citations in current APA style.
Document format: Submit your paper in Microsoft Word .doc or .docx format.
Length of paper: 4–5 typed, double-spaced pages of content plus title and reference pages.
Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
