Write a paper citing a minimum of five resources gathered from the library’s database (see “Required Text and Materials” #3 and #4 in the beginning of the syllabus). Additional information and related documents will be posted in Session 8 of the course content on Brightspace. The paper should integrate student’s learned knowledge from the course with current trends, where applicable. The paper should address the following:

1. Outline the transdisciplinary teams and family-based practices in early intervention.
2. Describe the process for determining a child eligible for early intervention services, explain the five domains for developmental evaluation and the use of at risk and clinical judgment in the infant toddler services and eligibility screenings for 3 to 5, preschool.
3. Identify effective communication strategies in order to provide early intervention as part of a transdisciplinary team (that includes the parents); as well as the role of community partners in early intervention.
4. Compare Infant Toddler and Preschool collaborative services in Pennsylvania.

Overview

For the final paper, students will be analyzing two movies’ (or television shows) images of minority groups (for instance, Asian male characters as portrayed by Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan or African American families in A Raisin in the Sun and Soul Food).
A paper should be double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font.
Page limit: It should be at least 5-page long.

Instruction

(1) For each movie (or television show), you need to answer the following questions in your paper.

What is the plot of the selected movie (or show)?
Why you choose that movie (or show)?
Please explain the minority character(s) (e.g., Is s/he Asian American? Or African American? Native American? Or Hispanic? Does s/he play a lead role? What’s his or her role in the plot? What are his or her personal characteristics?)
What kinds of stereotypes do the minority character(s) promote? Why do you think so? Please provide evidence (explain specific scene).
Do the stereotypes promote any dominant ideologies? (or how does the movie naturalize racial difference through stereotyping?)
What is your overall reflection?

(2) After answering the questions above for each selected movie or television show, please compare the movies or shows in terms of how they portray minorities in one or two paragraphs.

If you cannot choose or find any movie featuring minority groups, I recommend watching “Rush Hour 2.” You can identify racial stereotypes targeting Asians and African Americans that we have learned (e.g., dragon lady, china doll, buffoon etc.)
