Case Overview: Apple Inc. Performance in a Zero-Sum World Economy
During the semester, we have discussed supply chain and production issues as they impacted your company. In particular, we have witnessed for the first time ever—the impact of a major pandemic upon the supply chain of many companies and the subsequent disruption upon the economy.
This assignment is a bit different…you are asked to consider your personal values as they relate to Apple’s outsourcing decision. In particular, please review Apple’s current outsourcing relationship with Hon Hai (Foxconn) industries, one of the major manufacturers of your iPhone. Please see article links below for overview of the key ethical issues.

Overall Directions
Putting aside your professional perspective as a business major and as a strategy student, please use your own personal, professional, spiritual, or religious values to respond to the information presented in the Apple case. This assignment has (4) components and please use the grading rubric as your guide in writing your paper. Please carefully review the grading rubric, identify each section in BOLD prior to developing your response. As importantly, expand upon your response in each section.
Assessment Criteria
This assignment will be a highly personal response from you: we are most interested here in your values-based individual and personal reaction to the Apple case.
There are not any “right” or “wrong” answers to your response, but “better” responses will be clearer, more thoughtful, and more effectively expressed regarding both the “what” and the “why” of your reactions. In other words, “what” is your response to the Apple case and “why” do you feel/believe that way? Given this, the grading criteria for this assignment are as follows:
Grading Criteria
Your ability to effectively express and use your values in your assessment of the specific facts and information of the Apple case.
Appropriate paper length. The main body of the paper (excluding headers, document titles, etc.), should translate into 2-3 page document.
Clarity of your writing and expression.
Ability to use grading rubric to address key issues.
Tips for Successfully Writing the Assignment
Avoid summarizing the case, and please don’t include Apple article references in your response.
Avoid long narrative and illustrative stories–focus on the relationship between your values and the case information. Remember, this assignment is more about you reflecting upon your personal values and your own identity than it is about Apple as a company!

Implementation of the Care Plan

Implementation of the Care Plan
In a Microsoft Word document of 2-3 pages formatted in APA style, you will develop a plan to implement your care plan by answering the questions below.
The first step to effective implementation is planning. As you go about this task, utilize the following questions applying them to your aggregate:
What group have you selected (for example, three families with young children, and so on)?
What made you select this particular group?
What intervention(s) of the plan will you implement in the group?
What health risk do you expect to address by implementing this intervention?
What results do you expect?
How do you plan to implement this intervention?
Do you have any specific strategy in mind?
What resources will you need?
How long do you think it will take for the results to be seen?
What resources do you need?
The second step is to mobilize the resources you need, talk to the small group, recruit volunteers, etc.
Finally, when your resources are in place, put your plan into action.

World regions in Global Context: Russia, Central Assia, and Transcaucasus

Discussion Prompt
For this discussion, we will bring the issues of uneven development and ethnic/religious identity explored in the readings and videos for this module and relate these to the current crisis in Ukraine. For each response, use the course materials to provide support for your response.
Outline the core messages of the case study about Narva (Bob Kaiser’s video and the required readings of Rubin and Balmforth), and compare that with the role of Russian speakers in Ukraine (Young) and the difficulties of building unity in an independent Ukraine.
Describe the key dimensions of religious diversity in the region using multiple course materials including Kramer Gillin’s Q&A (making sure to include a discussion of Islamic religious diversity).* Relate this overview to how religion and ethnicity is being used in arguments for Russian interests in Ukraine (and possible invasion). The last required reading by Lassin, and Channell-Justice will be useful for this (as well as Putin’s essay in recommended readings).
* Be attentive to how you use terminology such as Muslim, Islamic, and Islam. For instance, when you refer to specific states remember that there is no such thing as a “Muslim state” or “Islamic country.” Instead, there are countries with Muslim-majority populations or states that consider Islam to be the state religion. Additionally, there are states, such as Saudi Arabia, that have incorporated Islamic law into institutions and social life. You will want to keep this in mind for future modules, as well.
Muslim Can be noun or adjective. Refers specifically to faith and should be the term used when talking about people and their religious beliefs.
Islam This is a noun that refers to the religion, not a person.
Islamic This is not used to talk about people. It is most commonly used to talk about aspects of societies that are mostly Muslim. So people might talk bout Islamic architecture, Islamic art, Islamic law, Islamic values, Islamic history, etc. The difference between “Islamic” and “Muslim” can be confusing for people who are accustomed to talking about Christianity or Judaism, for example, because in those cases there is just one adjective used. You would not call a person “Islamic.”
Islamist An adjective that can describe people, groups of people, or ideas. While definitely related to religion, it is really explaining a political orientation and belief that Islam should be thoroughly integrated into government. On page 160, the textbook adds that it is anti-Western, but not everyone would not include that as part of the definition. As the book notes: most Muslims DEFINITELY would not call themselves Islamists! You will likely not have any reason to use this term for your Module #6 Discussion post.

Explorations in analytical framework

Data preparation is a step in the research process most of us who do not often do research forget must be done. When collecting data at the qualitative level, how do we know when saturation has been reached?

Finally, this week, identify the analytical frameworks addressed in your reading and this week’s lesson. Does one hold more appeal to you than another; in what way?
