Option #1 – Behavior Analysis (Motivation, Attitudes/Values, Team Development)
What considerations must today’s supervisors recognize when striving to develop a solid team? What motivates and
satisfies these team members in the workplace? Research an organization of your choice (effective or ineffective), and
then develop a plan that highlights how attitudes, emotions, personalities, and values can influence employee
behaviors. Consider the role team development plays, the importance of performance management, effective
communication or incorporate any of the concepts we have explored throughout the course: however, be certain to
demonstrate mastery of course concepts.

For this exercise, you will consider times when you made good and poor decisions. You will also analyze the factors that contributed to making these decisions.

There are times when you have made good decisions. You know it was a good decision at the time, and when you looked back on it later, you recognized that, yes, that was a good decision. Even now, you still think it was a good decision.There are also times when you made poor decisions. You might have felt uneasy about it at the time, and when you look back on it, you recognize that it was a poor decision. Analyze the factors that you think contributed to both your good and your poor decisions.

Choose someone who has had experience in leading within an organization and ask them if you could interview them by phone or in person. The interview should take about 30 minutes. Be sure to take notes during the interview.
Use the following questions when you conduct the interview (feel free to ask other questions as well):

Ask the leader to consider a time when they faced a challenging situation at work that demanded that they grow as a leader. Ask them to briefly describe the situation. Why was it challenging and what was at stake? What tensions and conflicts were at play?
Ask them to explain the three (or more) most important actions they took as a leader to address the situation. What were the kinds of things they did that made a difference? How did they decide on a best course of action? Who helped them to formulate a strategy?
Ask the leader what kind of resistance did they face and from whom? How did they overcome that resistance? In hindsight, what, if anything, might they have done differently?
Ask them to speak personally and comment on how they were feeling entering the situation and how their feelings may have changed during the experience.
Ask them to share some of their own thoughts on what they think it means to be an effective leader.
Once you have completed this interview, the next step is to write your analysis, please include the following:
A Mini Bio describing the person interviewed (less than 5 lines) may be inserted either here or at the beginning of your leadership interview section C.
How do you know this leader? How did you get the interview?
Was it a pleasant experience or did you think it was hard?
Will there be any follow-up?
NEXT – Write a description of the situation, the leader’s tactics/strategies and outcomes, as well as your own conclusion summarizing what the key learning points that emerged for you from this interview. What did you learn about their leadership styles? Cite in-text APA style any 5 Leadership concepts, topics, models, theories, etc. What did you learn about yourself? How did this interview help to foster your own philosophy of leadership?

Your interview summary should be 5-6 pages in length, double-spaced, 1” margins, size 12 font with complete sentences and proper spelling and grammar and should represent a written presentation of the interview.

I N T R U C T I O N S :
1. Conduct some research regarding this topic. You can use the links provided below. If you choose to use outside research, make sure that it is from a credible organization (note most of the links below are from universities). After reviewing some of the sources below, choose 1-3 sources you intend to cite in your essay (you can also find your own sources using Google Scholar or the “Library Resources” folder on the homepage of this course, I have just provided these resources for you to save you time).

2. Create an inquiry question that you can explore for this project. This question will serve as the prompt for your essay. The question should be open-ended enough that it allows you to develop an interesting response to it, while specific enough that it can be answered in a 4-7 page literary analysis (full pages, not including your works cited page). Use your inquiry question as the title of your paper.
3. Write an introductory paragraph for your literary analysis. Introductions typically follow this structure:

4. Using evidence from the research sources in Step 1, draft the first two paragraphs of your essay. A suggested layout for these paragraphs is:
– Paragraph 1: Background information on Elizabethan England and mental disorders (clinical and more informal like manipulation, personality quirks, etc); compare these to your knowledge or evidence of mental health today
– Paragraph 2: Use evidence from your research to clearly establish your argument regarding the role of mental states in the play
(Of course, the way you structure your essay will depend on what you intend to argue. This structure may or may not fit your ideas. Feel free to deviate from these guidelines, but if you do so, make sure your essay has a clear and logical structure.)
5. Select evidence from the text to incorporate into your essay. Be sure to cite your evidence properly using MLA in-text citations.
6. Draft your analysis paragraphs: separate your paragraphs by the ideas presented within them, use specific text evidence from Othello to support your analysis. Ensure that you cite your evidence using MLA format. The evidence you choose is important, but your elaboration/analysis of the evidence is what is most integral to this essay so be sure to fully explain and connect your ideas.
7. Draft your final paragraph: In 3-5 sentences, provide a clear and concise ending to your essay.
8. If you have not yet, read the rubric that will be used to grade your paper. Proofread and edit your paper in accordance with the rubric.
A final note, make sure you quote REAL Shakespeare, not translated Shakespeare. Essays without real quotations cannot be graded. This has been reiterated throughout our entire time with Othello.
