What is your reaction to Socrates’ position that each of us has a role to which we are best suited in society?
Week 11
What is your reaction to Socrates’ position that each of us has a role to which we are best suited in society? (Delve into his notions about of the three roles alloted to people and how he determines them). Do you think that there are ever occasions when we should put aside our personal ambitions or desires for the sake of the common good (see video below)? If you think this may apply in some cases, would it not be a good idea in normal circumstances also? Why is this not something that most people would subscribe to?

Watch all parts of the docuseries and answer the following questions. (We will watch ep. 2 together in class).
1, identify at least two things you learned from the docuseries.
2, identify at least two themes through the docuseries, (ie, mass incarceration, education, equality, racial violence, etc.) to name a few.
3, discuss one of the themes that you identified from the docuseries to the degree that you thoroughly evaluate what has changed if anything. Are things better, worse, or the same? Provide evidence for your argument.
4, what are your overall impressions of the docuseries, and provide a summation of what can be done to bring us together instead of continuing on this path of hate and a potential race war.
This should be at least 1 and 1/2 pages. You do not need to change the formatting at all, as this should be submitted through text entry. This should be ready by the start of class. Each one of you will be asked to answer at least 1 of these questions in class next week. This will be counted as a grade for this class and will be worth 50 points and count toward 15% of your total grade.

Discuss one lesson from our Kierkegaard, Sartre, or de Beauvoir that you found particularly intriguing. In the essay “Existentialism,” Sartre considers the objection to existentialism that “values aren’t serious, since you choose them.” Is this a serious problem for existentialism?
We’ve been studying existentialism through the writings of Kierkegaard, Sartre, and de Beauvoir. For this roughly 4 page paper, respond to each of the following requirements:
Characterize “existentialism” in your own words. Relate your characterization of the philosophical movement to a key lesson from either Kierkegaard, Sartre, or de Beauvoir (just one; not all three).
How might an existentialist respond to the objection and is that response persuasive? Why or why not?
In The Ethics of Ambiguity, de Beauvoir writes, “We repudiate all idealisms, mysticisms, etcetera which prefer a Form to man himself” (pg. 425). What does this quote mean and what does it say about her vision for existential ethics?
Length and Formatting: The suggested length of your paper is 4 pages, but this is not a requirement (it can be more or less; my concern is that you adequately address all requirements). It should be formatted in MLA style, so that means it should be double spaced. Here is a link to a great resource on MLA-formatting: Link, MLA Formatting (Links to an external site.)
Resource Requirement: Your paper needs to include two references to resources. Both of them can be from the text we are using in class (Basic Writings of Existentialism) so long as each is from a different writer (for instance, Kierkegaard and de Beauvoir, or Sartre and de Beauvoir). You are also welcome to use outside scholarly resources. A couple of good online resources I recommend include:
Stanford’s Encyclopedia of Philosophy: Link (Links to an external site.)
The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy: Link (Links to an external site.)
Argumentative essay regarding Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein
Essay 2: Critical Analysis
Format: 5 – 6 Pages, typed, double-spaced, 12-point font, 1-inch margins (MLA)
Introduction:
All essays begin with a question or prompt to guide your written response. In prior English courses and
through the first half of this semester, you have been provided with the question or prompt. For this
essay, in order to develop your critical thinking skills, you will need to develop your own question for
response. This question must be clear and argumentative.
Assignment: Develop your own argumentative question regarding Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. And
respond to it in the form of a clear, concise thesis statement. Your essay should then utilize sound
reasoning and textual evidence to support your thesis statement.
Essay Requirements
Identify Shelley’s Purpose
Identify and explain themes expressed in Shelley’s novel
Utilize literary elements and devices
Primary textual evidence
At least two secondary sources – one of which can be from our text that was assigned in class. And one other that you find through your own research
Incorporate two, no more – no less, literary theories that we have discussed in class
Introduce a counterargument to your thesis and refute it
MLA formatted citations and works cited page
While these are the requirements, you as the writer will need to make some decisions on how you will
incorporate these requirements in your essay.
Covid-19 and the Future Impact on Children
Step 1: Introduction Paragraph
For this assignment, you will draft the introduction for your final paper. First, review the following resources on creating an effective introduction: Excelsior OWL – Introduction paragraphs (Links to an external site.) and UNC Chapel Hill – Introductions (Links to an external site.)
Your introduction paragraph should be approximately 150-200 words. It should:
Grab the reader’s attention with an opening “hook” – this may be an interesting example, a quotation, an anecdote, or a question related to your topic
2. Include your thesis statement as the last sentence of the introduction and underline it to make it clear to your reader. It’s expected that your thesis statement has changed and improved since you last submitted it in Milestone 3 based on your instructor’s feedback.
3. Since you are drafting content that will become part of your final project, which is a formal academic writing assignment, you should avoid informal language (i.e. slang) and first-person pronouns (i.e. “I”, “me”, “my”)
Step 2: Outline
Once you have drafted your introduction paragraph, below it, in the same document you will compose an outline of the body paragraphs and conclusion of your paper. First, review the following resource on outlines: Excelsior OWL–Traditional Outlining. (Links to an external site.)
Your outline should include body paragraphs supporting your thesis statement, at least 1 body paragraph to refute opposing perspectives, and a conclusion that reiterates your thesis statement. Each body paragraph should include at least 3 supporting details with the source or sources you plan to use as evidence for that detail. This way you will determine if you have enough evidence for your points, which will make it much easier to draft your full paper in the coming weeks or find additional sources if necessary. In addition, after your supporting details, each body paragraph should include an explanation of the evidence that summarizes how the evidence relates to your thesis.
Follow the format in the Milestone 5 Template Download Milestone 5 Template to make sure your outline includes the necessary components.
Step 3: Reference List
Since you are including source information in your outline, you need to include a list of references at the end for all of your sources. This should be formatted in APA style, just as you did last week for Milestone 4. If your instructor offered corrections and feedback on your Milestone 4 references, make sure to make those changes before submitting Milestone 5.
Your final submission should include:
Your introduction paragraph with your underlined thesis statement as the last sentence
Your outline with sources for each of your 3 supporting details per paragraph and an explanation of evidence
A list of references in APA style at the end of the document.
Put both of these components into one document using the Milestone 5 Template and submit it to the dropbox by Sunday of Module 5.
anticipating trends in global governance for the coming decade and beyond, in three fields (Public Health, Economy, Global Governance/Geopolitics)
Seminar Covid-19 – Spring 2022
Final Essay
The essay consists in
an attempt at anticipating trends in global governance for the coming
decade and beyond, in three fields (Public Health, Economy, Global
Governance/Geopolitics). You should consider each of the fields and see whether
they are likely to be affected by the pandemic and, if so, what would be the resulting
changes/transformations (you could also anticipate that one or another of the
items in each field may not be affected). You should explain why/how you reach
such conclusion.
Within each field, you
may want to address the following items (and/or add other items that you
believe are relevant):
1. Public Health
– Standards and
Policies
– Research/science
(vaccines)
– Infrastructure
2. Economy
– Development aid
– Finance for recovery
– Production chains
and investment flows
– GDP ranking
3. Geopolitics /
Global governance institutions
– International
security
–
Multilateralism/intergovernmental cooperation
– Democratization
– Civil society
Please bear in mind
that we are addressing only processes with a global dimension (these may
include processes affecting regional groupings, but no national developments).
TRIPLE AIM OUTCOME MEASURES
Develop a presentation, containing 10 slides (not including title and references), on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Triple Aim, how current and emerging health care models support the Triple Aim, and how governmental regulatory initiatives and outcome measures can be applied in the care coordination process to achieve the Triple Aim in a population.
Introduction
The Triple Aim is a framework by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (n.d.) for “simultaneously improving the health of the population, enhancing the experience and outcomes of the patient, and reducing per capita cost of care for the benefit of communities.” Care coordinators must have a model and framework to guide their practice and enable them to achieve the Triple Aim. Presently, many rural hospitals are using archaic models that must be updated to achieve the Triple Aim. For example, the patient-centered medical home model has been around for 30 years, but it has evolved during that time.
This assessment provides an opportunity for you to develop an evidence-based presentation of the ways in which an organization’s care coordination process can be modified to achieve the Triple Aim.
Models of Care
National initiatives focus on health care organizations to continuously improve the quality, safety, and coordination of care. In response to these initiatives, health care models have surfaced with the goal to guide national health safety and quality improvement efforts.
Nursing is an art and science with a foundation that embraces evidence, research, and quality. The thought “we have always done it this way” has long been discarded and replaced by standards based on evidence-based research. As the specialization of care coordination has evolved, care coordination has proven to be a vital element that links patients and families to safer and higher quality care. One care coordination model, the patient-centered medical home (PCMH), has gained momentum and support from governmental and regulatory agencies.

Preparation
In this assessment, you will assume the role of a new case manager at a small rural hospital, Sacred Heart. You have been asked to deliver an evidence-based presentation to hospital leaders and clinical leadership teams about the ways in which the care coordination process at Sacred Heart can be modified to achieve the Triple Aim within the hospital’s rural population.
To gain a better understanding of current health care models and their support for the Triple Aim, examine and compare such models as:
Patient-centered medical home (PCMH).
Transitional care.
Patient self-management.
Guided care.
Care coordination (Institute for Healthcare Improvement).
Develop a presentation of specific suggestions for improving the care coordination process at Sacred Heart Hospital to achieve Triple Aim outcomes.
Developing the Presentation
The requirements outlined below correspond to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. Be sure that your presentation addresses each point, at a minimum. You may also want to read the Triple Aim Outcome Measures Scoring Guide to better understand how each criterion will be assessed.
Explain how the Triple Aim contributes to population health, improves the patient care experience, and reduces health care costs on a regional, state, and national level. You will do this on slides with these specific headings:
Experience of Care/Patient Satisfaction.
Improving Population or Community Health.
Decreasing Per Capita Costs.
Analyze the relationships between various current and emerging health care models you have chosen to examine and the ways in which they support the Triple Aim by answering these guiding questions:
How do I define the rationale and philosophy of these health care models?
Can I explain how these health care models have evolved? How do I believe that these health care models have changed over time?
Can I cite at least three ways in which health care quality is enhanced through these models? In which three ways do I believe that these models most enhance health care quality? (Cite references to support your assertion.)
Explain how the structure of these models contribute to the process of gathering and evaluating the quality of evidence-based data.
Explain how evidence-based data shapes the care coordination process in nursing.
Describe three governmental regulatory initiatives and outcome measures that can be applied in the care coordination process to achieve the Triple Aim within a population.
Present process improvement recommendations to a stakeholder group clearly and concisely.
Address the anticipated needs and concerns of your audience.
What questions or objections are they likely to raise? How will you respond?
Support your main points, arguments, and conclusions with relevant and credible evidence, correctly formatting citations and references using current APA style.
Begin your presentation with the following slides:
Title.
Purpose (the reasons for the presentation).
Definition of the Triple Aim outcome measures.
Use the speaker’s notes section of each slide to develop your talking points and cite your sources, as appropriate.
Write a reflection on something covered during lecture, discussion, or in the assigned readings.
Write a reflection on something covered during lecture, discussion, or in the assigned readings.
• The reflection should open with a thorough description of one of the phenomena you’ve learned about.
• Next, you will link the phenomenon you’ve chosen to something in the real world. You might choose to give an example from your own life, the life of someone you know or a literary or media character, current events, or popular culture.
*** The goal here is for you to creatively link something from class to something you care about outside of class, so feel free to get creative here! ***
I have attached a PowerPoint from my lecture class to help developed a phenomena so just connect it to a real life experience and/or media
