Assignment: Evidence-Based Project, Part 3: Critical Appraisal of Research

Realtors rely on detailed property appraisals—conducted using appraisal tools—to assign market values to houses and other properties. These values are then presented to buyers and sellers to set prices and initiate offers.
Research appraisal is not that different. The critical appraisal process utilizes formal appraisal tools to assess the results of research to determine value to the context at hand. Evidence-based practitioners often present these findings to make the case for specific courses of action.
In this Assignment, you will use an appraisal tool to conduct a critical appraisal of published research. You will then present the results of your efforts.
To Prepare:
Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you selected in Module 2 and the four systematic reviews (or other filtered high- level evidence) you selected in Module 3.
Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you selected in Module 2 and analyzed in Module 3.
Review and download the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template provided in the Resources.
The Assignment (Evidence-Based Project)
Part 3A: Critical Appraisal of Research
Conduct a critical appraisal of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected by completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template. Choose a total of four peer- reviewed articles that you selected related to your clinical topic of interest in Module 2 and Module 3.
Note: You can choose any combination of articles from Modules 2 and 3 for your Critical Appraisal. For example, you may choose two unfiltered research articles from Module 2 and two filtered research articles (systematic reviews) from Module 3 or one article from Module 2 and three articles from Module 3. You can choose any combination of articles from the prior Module Assignments as long as both modules and types of studies are represented.
Part 3B: Critical Appraisal of Research
Based on your appraisal, in a 1-2-page critical appraisal, suggest a best practice that emerges from the research you reviewed. Briefly explain the best practice, justifying your proposal with APA citations of the research.

Explain in depth the correlation between the person’s pH and why their respiratory muscles are breaking down.
Provide details in your explanation and support your answer with facts from your textbook, research, and articles from scholarly journals. Remember to add references in APA format at the end of your post to avoid plagiarism.

Choose an exposure and utilize the research process to determine if the disease and exposure are related. Write an 8 to10 page double spaced paper including the following headings: title page, study question, selection of study approach, study design and data collection, analysis of data, reporting of findings, and references. Excluding the title page and references, place the name(s) of the student(s) on the bottom right hand corner of each slide he/she/they made. References are not included in the page count. A description of each heading is below.
PowerPoint Presentation: Based on your findings (that were shared in the paper), implement a program/project that will significantly decrease or eliminate the chronic disease. State how your group will plan, assess, and evaluate the proposed program/project. Design a PowerPoint presentation (10 to 15 slides) including the following: chronic disease and country information, proposed program/project, assessment, evaluation, and references. Obesity and Physical Inactivity (12.1)

Step 1 Choose a disorder that is exacerbated or promoted by obesity and physical inactivity.

Step 2 Locate an article.

Cross-sectional developmental research has discovered that various generations have been labeled by popular culture to describe trends in behavior commonly seen among individuals born to each generation.

Cross-sectional developmental research has discovered that various generations have been labeled by popular culture to describe trends in behavior commonly seen among individuals born to each generation. Study the chart below, and discuss whether or not you agree with the labels given and the rationales provided. Explain your answers.
Next, given the knowledge you have gained in this section about the influence of nature and nurture (biological and contextual influences), are there other reasons besides those listed in the chart that could influence general trends in behavior across generations? Support your reasoning with information from the text and other course materials.

Performance and Syncopation

Write 8 measures in 2/4 time signature. Draw a percussion clef at the beginning of the composition (symbol provided in the file ).

You may use any combination of quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes (and their rests), but you must provide at least 3 examples of syncopated rhythms (see form “Syncopated Rhythm Examples” in Course Content as well as your lecture notes for resource).
Once you have written the composition, you need to perform what you wrote. This can be done two ways (choose only one):
1) Make a pre-recorded video (unlisted YouTube link preferred) or audio file to send through Blackboard–I have a link attached for how this should sound. Perform once while saying the syllables, then play the piece again on your instrument.

Have a metronome playing as you perform. If you do not have one, search on Google and set the number to 60 BPM. There are also free metronome apps you can download to your device.

Response to reading(s) or film should be 200 words (+/-) in length, take the form of a paragraph, and must address all parts of the following prompt. (Type out your response in another document, then spell-check, edit, and polish it, before copying and pasting it this Canvas Assignment.) Be specific in your response, explaining your reasoning and directly referring to the author’s own words in your response. Cite novel by page numbers in the page counter of the Adobe PDF file reader (e.g., page 126 is the beginning of Part III).

Narrow/Weak Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Strong Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) approaches

Assignment goals: This assignment is asking you to understand the differences between: Narrow/Weak Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Strong Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) approaches. Your essay must also show your understanding of the differences between the Constructionist and Constructivist cognitive engineering approaches.
This assignment is also asking you to provide examples of “intelligent” agents or programs that use AI and AGI (not necessarily both in the same example) in order to discuss the pros and cons (ie. advantages and disadvantages) of each approach. For each agent example, you must identify which of the 5 generic intelligent agents it is (unless the AGI example is something more advanced than a “learning agent”).
Your Task: In 500-1000 words containing: separate paragraphs and an academic writing style (topic sentence, developing paragraph(s), conclusion)…
A – Quickly summarize by paraphrasing in your own words, the differences between: AI and AGI.
When paraphrasing in your own words, be sure to provide full textbook citations (including page numbers) for each of these perspectives. This textbook MUST be the 3rd or 2nd edition UNLESS you can show that the 1st edition contains content not shown in the 2nd edition.
B – Two examples total = Provide at least one example of an artificial agent using AI and one example of an artificial agent using AGI…
BANNED EXAMPLES:
The following agent examples have been discussed in this course and will get reduced points in the rubric for not being sufficiently original…
